Pluto’s transition from Capricorn to Aquarius 2023–24

Over the next two years, Pluto will be toggling between Capricorn and Aquarius as he settles into his new home for the next 20 years. This year Pluto spends about three months in Aquarius and then returns in January 2024 for another seven months or so before moving in for good in November 2024. So during 2023 to 2024 Pluto will be moving back and forth over the final degrees of Capricorn and the early degrees of Aquarius.

Pluto represents deep evolutionary forces of change and manifests through the instincts, the desire for power and control, the collective shadow and mass movements, and the death or destruction of old forms so that they can be renewed. In Capricorn, Pluto has been making structural changes because the sign is ruled by Saturn, and this continues when he moves into Aquarius which is also ruled by Saturn, but the focus shifts to a new area.

In Capricorn, Pluto has been transforming established hierarchies and top-down structures, revealing the corruption of empire, global institutions, and the authority of the 1% – those at the top of the pyramid. In Aquarius, Pluto will transform social structures and the network of communities that make up society, how people organise themselves and the ideas and principles that underpin the culture.

As Pluto changes signs, there’s often a reaction against the previous sign, a kind of correction of past failures or missteps, and an attempt to restore balance. Going from Capricorn to Aquarius we will move from a centralised top-down power structure to a decentralised, networked multipolar power structure.

These changes will take a long time but when Pluto first enters a sign, we often see an event that reveals where we might be heading. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, we had a banking crisis with the Credit Crunch caused by the selling of dodgy financial instruments that nobody understood. The corruption of the monetary system was never fixed and the Ponzi bubble was simply reinflated and now the debt is out of control.

A structure with rotten foundations cannot stand for long – that’s basic physics. Many have lost trust in the established order and society no longer works for the people (at least in the ‘West’). The entire global economic structure has been undermined by plutocrats plundering the world to gain power. But no matter how rich you are, you can’t defy the laws of physics.

As Pluto enters Aquarius, we should start to see the end of the plutocrats and these corrupt global structures. However, the brave new world won’t fall into our laps and we’re not going to wake up in utopia any time soon! If we want a better world, we have to build it ourselves – that’s the meaning of Aquarius.

For now, the old order remains standing, although on wobbly legs. Perhaps it will finally fall over in the next couple of years as Pluto moves over the final degree of Capricorn for the last time. It still has a lot of momentum and vested interests who are desperate for their power to continue. But the end is coming.

Why can’t we all just get along…? The surrender of British General Burgoyne to Horatio Gates in 1777

The reorganisation of power structures is happening within the larger context of the Jupiter Saturn cycle and we can see how that changes events by looking at what happened last time.

The last time Pluto transitioned between Capricorn and Aquarius was in 1777–78 during the American War of Independence. America had already declared its independence from Britain in July 1776 when Pluto was still in Capricorn, but the fighting continued because the British refused to let go of their favourite colony. America and France teamed up against the British and signed the Treaty of Alliance and the Treaty of Amity and Commerce in 1778 in recognition of the new republic when Pluto was in Aquarius.

Meanwhile, the Anglo-French War spread British forces too thinly, forcing them to fight on multiple fronts and led to the loss of the war with America in 1783 when Britain finally gave up. But it also led to the bankruptcy of France several years later which triggered the French Revolution in 1789, bringing an end to the monarchy.

This transformation of power structures happened during the fire cycle of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions which saw the expansion of empires and revolutions, the development of science, the Age of Enlightenment and the ideas of individualism. The last transit of Pluto in Aquarius also coincided with the Uranus Pluto opposition which is why it was such a revolutionary time.

However, it didn’t lead to the overthrow of the old system of empires because the fire cycle was followed by the earth cycle in the 19th and 20th centuries. This saw the consolidation of empires, the centralisation of power and rampant colonial imperialism, and the industrial revolution.

The coming transit of Pluto in Aquarius should be quite different because it coincides with the air cycle of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions. This began in December 2020 with the conjunction in Aquarius and should see the dissolution of empires based on hierarchy and the decentralisation of power structures. Each cycle lasts about 200 years so Pluto’s transit through Aquarius will help things along nicely.

Out of interest, Pluto will reach 0°29’ Aquarius – the degree of the Jupiter Saturn conjunction – in 2024 and makes three passes, in February, August and December.

Pluto will be in Aquarius from 2023 to 2044, with a bit of toggling at either end, so we can expect the next 20 years to bring many changes. The old earth empires are crumbling and by 2044 we’ll have a more fragmented or decentralised power structure that isn’t centred on the ‘West’. This multipolar world is already taking shape but the ‘West’ is resisting and trying to hang on to its power – some things never change!

As we explored in the forthcoming transits post, those who benefit from the old order won’t go down without a fight. There could be many years of struggle with the dying plutocrats and parasites as they trigger more senseless wars as cover for monetary collapse. But in the long run, the centralised system will fail – perhaps by the Saturn Neptune conjunction in 2025–26, or the Saturn Uranus conjunction in 2032.

Other possibilities for Pluto in Aquarius include the transformation of technology, science and philosophy, as well as social reform and political revolutions, including the end of monarchies and hierarchical control structures. We could see any or all of the following:

  • Revolutions in politics, the rise of people power and direct democracy movements
  • Breakthroughs in science that bring new ideas in cosmology and physics
  • The rise of biotechnology and transhumanism and the fight against it
  • Further developments in data collection, surveillance, and privacy
  • Revelations of corruption in science and technology
  • Failures of technology and the loss of faith in the myth of progress
  • Radical changes to our ideas about humanity

Some of the more extreme potentials in science and technology are likely to fail in the coming years. Big Data and surveillance will continue to be serious issues, but the so-called green tech revolution is unlikely to save the world. There are physical limits on resources and energy consumption and you can’t run a digital panopticon if you can’t keep the lights on.

Perhaps it will take the failure of technocracy to wake people up and shake them out of their complacency. Only then will we be able to tap into the positive potentials of Pluto in Aquarius and build a truly humane society. If we don’t, we’ll destroy ourselves and the planet.

Next time we’ll explore the personal side of Pluto in Aquarius...

  1. Oooh how exciting, detaching from the crumbling will be a well needed skill 🌈 On a personal level I will be relieved to have Pluto move on as I am tired of the very worthy but exhausting issues I have had to excavate 😂 in my 4th house.

  2. A blogger ( Miri AF) pointed out this week that if anything at all is promoted in msm – it is there because the globalists / puppeteers want it there .. and a current theme is that the monarchy are: out of date / rascist / problematic etc and therefore we can conclude that the WEF want monarchy out to make way for a One World Order.. it is good to have it confirmed again and again by gut feeling AND astrology that the energy of these times only supports a humanised-decentralisation. Anyone still saying ” all we need to do is vote xyz nice guys into power” is living in a world that no longer exists…. as you say – it now needs to be a “networked multipolar power structure.”
Love it —- i didnt have a term for this yet ! We have the tech to minimise state involvement and self-organise as empowered compassionate communities free from bureaucracy…
