  1. After 4 months of heavy anxiety, I meditated and I felt these gaps beetween each thought and put myself mentally in that position. Felt great for the first moments, but now I am in hell, can’t sleep, can’t feel, nothing feels real to me…
    What’s going on.:. Might be put on anti-psychotics

    1. Maikel – first of all, I’m not a qualified therapist so I can’t really answer your question. There could be a number of reasons why you’re feeling this way. It’s something that can happen when you begin to meditate and your old way of perceiving reality starts to break down. It can be scary, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re psychotic. On the other hand, there could be stuff coming up from the unconscious that needs to be worked through with therapy and medication might help with that.

      My advice, based on my experience (which might be very different to yours), is to find a way to stay in touch with your body: focus on the breath and don’t get caught up in whatever your mind is doing. Stop meditating for a while. Find a way to stay grounded in reality – exercise, go for walks, care for plants and animals, get plenty of sleep and fresh air. Try not to brood on the situation and don’t take it personally. If things don’t feel real, slow your breathing and count your breaths. Feel the air moving in and out through your nose, feel your chest and belly moving in and out, feel the seat or ground supporting you.
