Neptune Transits: 8th House

When Neptune transits the 8th house your need for transcendence and imagination influences how you use your power and shared resources. Neptune inspires new dreams and dissolves old structures and represents your need to spiritualise and refine this area of your life.

When Neptune transits the 8th house you may experience inspiration and confusion with your finances and shared resources, sexual expression, your relationship to power, the mysteries of life and death and the deep forces of the unconscious.

On the most mundane level there could be misunderstandings or mistakes in your financial transactions with others and you could be deceived, either deliberately or by accident. You could make idealistic assumptions about your joint finances that aren’t realistic, or your gullibility leaves you open to manipulation and loss.

Be especially careful with contracts and agreements and check every detail before signing, including shared property deals, taxes, inheritance, business finances and investments. Be as clear and above board as you can in all your dealings, and always get the best advice you can afford from somebody trustworthy. You could also be the one being deceptive but this transit is likely to reveal the lie so be as honest as possible.

As your boundaries dissolve you may become more open to others’ values which may change your relationships. You may need to make adjustments or sacrifices due to the values of your partner, or your values could become more inclusive and accepting of others.

This could also make the way you share intimacy more profound and you may experience blissful states of consciousness by losing yourself in another. Sex could become a way to transcend your separateness or explore spiritual liberation through practices like tantra. But you could also become confused about your sexuality, indulge in fantasies, or use sex to escape reality, perhaps enhanced by drugs. This could lead to disillusionment when reality fails to live up to the fantasy.

You may become interested in psychology or the mysteries of life and could be drawn to esoteric subjects that promise to reveal the nature of reality. You could explore other realms using psychoactive drugs but will need to stay grounded in the physical world so you don’t end up away with the fairies never to be seen again.

You could also become aware of deep unconscious pain, such as a death wish, that may be rooted in childhood traumas, ancestral wounds, or previous lives. Suicide is often a disguised desire to undergo a death followed by a rebirth, not of the body but of the psyche or soul. If you do feel the need to die during this transit, please seek support so you can find your way to the rebirth you need.

By reconnecting with your soul you can accept your own death which will enrich your life and enable you to live more fully. Your psychic sensitivity may also increase and you could receive inspiration and guidance that allows you to heal emotional wounds and develop greater compassion for yourself and others.

Possibilities with Neptune transiting the 8th House:
  • Merging your resources with a partner
  • Bliss and spiritual revelation through intimacy
  • Embracing celibacy
  • Increased psychic sensitivity
  • Exploring the unconscious using psychedelics
  • Healing old wounds through soul-searching and retrieval

Watch out for:

  • Deception over shared money or property
  • Loss of inheritance or resources
  • Disillusionment with intimacy
  • Sexual fantasies that turn bad
  • Abduction by fairies/aliens/negative emotional complexes
  • Suicide

  1. Wow, this is the most vivid transit description of exactly what has been happening in my life. I started this transit with a bang: Jupiter was also in my 8th house and Saturn in my 7th. In just the first year, my hidden childhood trauma resurfaced and became known to my entire family. I sought out psychotherapy for the first time in my life and was good for a few months, but the next year I experienced intense anxiety, restlessness, strange physical symptoms, and the most depressing lows I have ever felt, including recurring suicidal ideation.

My mother is also in the midst of selling the family home I grew up in, and that has been kind of a mess. And a sibling I helped cosign a loan years ago has been giving me a lot of trouble over it, basically missing payments and wrecking my credit line that I’d painstakingly built up all my life.

In the midst of these lows, I’ve also had a very sexless period with my husband. It comes and goes, but for both of us, this is the driest period we’ve had since we got together.

And, most importantly, I started learning about vedic astrology and have been studying it for almost a year now. Charting my life to help untangle the mess in my mind.

I just hope I can survive this transit.

  2. I grew up with this influence of Neptune in the 8th house. Concentrating on studies or anything practical/complicated didn’t come naturally, so my need for serene environments, nice sounds, nature and big spaces to learn and understand was heightened. Sounds were particularly important then; that’s when I had a lot of exposure to music and different voices. I think it is not like you would certainly become involved in art under this influence; it is rather everything around you is an art. I happened to travel extensively, and stay near water — not the usual landscape in my life later on. We moved to an island during this transit. I had been in open spaces and around animals during this period. The fear and discomfort from animals or open spaces did not become an issue. I had a couple of dogs in the neighborhood, big dogs, but never “owned” them. Never felt the need to own. I think if I had owned them, they wouldn’t have left such a big mark in my memory and in my life today. It is as if others’ (human and nonhuman) walls could be down when I was near them. That’s what I remember from this transit. Also, as a kid, this influence made my dreams so vivid and fantastic early on; it was sometimes scary how colorful and detailed they were.
