When Neptune transits the 9th house your need for transcendence and imagination influences how you search for meaning, truth and self-improvement. Neptune inspires new dreams and dissolves old structures and represents your need to spiritualise and refine this area of your life.

When Neptune transits the 9th house you may experience inspiration and confusion with your religion, beliefs and philosophy of life, higher education and teaching, long-distance travel, publishing, and the law. This transit has great potential for spiritual growth but how it affects you will depend on where you are on the path – and you may not be where you think you are! Neptune reveals the illusions and self-deception you have around your beliefs and where you put your faith.

You may be inspired by a new belief system or discover a new dimension to your current beliefs that changes your perspective on reality and faith. You may become more interested in the mystical or heart-centred branch of your particular religion or want to explore mystical paths that take you away from organised religion.

Your desire to surrender to something larger than yourself could make you vulnerable to unscrupulous but charismatic teachers who lead you astray due to a lack of discernment. You could become disillusioned with religion or spirituality as a result and this could knock you off the path and spoil an opportunity to find real spiritual truth and faith.

You could also experience a genuine spiritual awakening but still end up confused due to your own misunderstandings or emotional wounds. You may try to use spiritual practices to avoid the difficulties of your life (bypassing) or get sucked into spiritual narcissism where your ego becomes inflated and you think you’re enlightened when you’re not.

You may be inspired to search for meaning by travelling to distant lands or interacting with other cultures. You could go on a pilgrimage to spiritual locations or just places that have a special significance for you. You may have a wonderful time but could also get lost or suffer deception, so pay attention to where you are and who you’re dealing with.

Your imagination may also be heightened and you could expand your mind by studying Neptunian subjects, such as religion, mysticism, metaphysics, music, art, film, photography, fashion, theatre, creative writing and poetry, chemistry, pharmacology and drugs, or anything related to water and the ocean.

If you attend college there could be problems with your higher education. You may not get into the university that you want, or you become disillusioned with the course, or waste your time getting drunk and fail to complete your assignments.

Even if you’re not at college your view of your future could change as you try to work out where you’re heading in life. Your path forward may not be clear and you may need to learn to accept not knowing and live with uncertainty for a while. Eventually a new path may emerge or you could discover what you need by turning inwards and listening to your soul.
