Neptune in Aries: Spiritual Renewal and Becoming Yourself

Last time we explored the possibilities for the transit of Neptune in Aries which starts on 30th March 2025 and lasts until March 2039. Neptune in Aries represents the idealisation of individuals and heroic action and could bring a great spiritual and creative renaissance, alongside an increase in violence and war that spreads across borders. How this affects you will depend on where you are in the world and your personal situation. But if you work with this transit, it could initiate a profound new beginning in your life.

Neptune in Aries is the perfect time to be inspired by a new creative vision for your life and you may receive insights into who you really are as an individual. This will manifest through the Aries part of your chart and via any natal placements that Neptune transits while he’s there.

You may want to express your creativity and imagination in a more personal way or put your energy into doing what you love by following your passions and desires. Taking action towards what you believe in could inspire new ways of seeing and expressing yourself and expand your identity beyond your usual boundaries. This could be uplifting as well as confusing as Neptune blurs the edges of your sense of self.

You may idealise the importance of your individuality and your right to take action towards your goals. But Neptune could also distort your perception of yourself and you may be deceived about your true motives or desires. You may feel uncertain about what you want to do or have unrealistic expectations about what’s possible. You may struggle to see yourself clearly in the house Neptune is transiting and be prone to fantasies, self-deception, or being misled by others.

Confusion about your goals could undermine your ability to act and you may feel lost at sea, not knowing what to do for the best. Or you could act impulsively and go after your goals without thinking things through, convinced you can’t go wrong because “it feels right.” You may believe that you can’t fail because you have faith but your faith could be misplaced.

You may use spiritual practices to avoid taking action on things you feel confused about or disappear into blissful states to bypass difficult feelings or complicated problems. Rather than transcending the personal self and seeing through the illusion of the ego, you may create a spiritual identity or ego instead and fall into the trap of spiritual pride which could derail your practice.

There may also be times when you need to act despite being unclear and unable to see the way forward. Doing this will help you to develop greater trust in your intuition, even if you fail in what you’re doing. You could end up learning more about yourself by failing than you would if you had succeeded. You may also need to learn to wait for the right moment and to think about what you’re doing before leaping into action.

The point of all this confusion is that Neptune is slowly dissolving your illusions about yourself so you can discover who you really are. This may involve humbling or even humiliating experiences that force you to reassess who you believe yourself to be. It doesn’t have to be a terrible ordeal but the further away you are from your true Self, the greater the disillusionment will be.

You can avoid the worst of this process by cooperating with Neptune and allowing your sense of self to be refined and spiritualised. You may experience a spiritual awakening or breakthrough and align with your higher or deeper Self – your true identity at one with the divine. Your heart may open to the world bringing you into a deeper connection to the wider circle of life.

This new beginning in your spiritual life is reinforced by the Saturn Neptune conjunction and you may receive profound insights into how your individuality interconnects with all of life. You may be able to connect with others in a more authentic way and express your individuality with greater self-acceptance and compassion.

This spiritual renewal can be expressed in a variety of ways on a personal and collective level. You may want to surrender to something larger than yourself and could find new ways to practice your faith. You could fight for spiritual causes or dedicate yourself to becoming a bodhisattva or spiritual warrior who leads from the heart. Or you may get involved in social movements and activism to fight for the rights of disenfranchised people and help to relieve their suffering.

However, none of this will work if you approach it in the usual Aries way: head first, or ego first. To thrive during Neptune in Aries you’ll need to understand the paradox of effortless action and how to act without your ego getting in the way. This relates to Karma Yoga which is explained in the Bhagavad Gita, the story of the warrior Arjuna chatting with Krishna before a big battle.

Arjuna is worried about doing the right thing and has compassion for his enemies. He’s about to surrender but Krishna stops him and reveals the illusory nature of his concerns, telling him to do his duty as a warrior and fight. But he must fight from a place of deep surrender to the divine, not out of anger or a desire to win.

When you act out of selflessness without desire your actions come from your deeper Self or the divine within you. So your actions are motivated by God’s grace acting through you. This is what it means to act on faith, as St John of the Cross says:

“If a man wishes to be sure of the road he treads on, he must close his eyes and walk in the dark.”

Needless to say, this isn’t easy. When Neptune brings disillusionment, it encourages you to surrender the desires of your personal self or ego and sacrifice them to a higher reality. You can then learn how to act or not act at the appropriate times without being fixated on the outcome.

Neptune enters Aries in 2025

When Neptune first enters Aries on 30th March 2025, it happens in the middle of a lot of other activity moving across the same spot. Neptune goes into Aries while conjunct Mercury, Venus, and Saturn in Pisces, trine Mars in Cancer, sextile Uranus, and sextile Pluto. Both Venus and Mercury are retrograde and have just left Aries for Pisces crossing paths with Neptune on the way.

It probably won’t be easy to make sense of what’s going on during this time. Any events or new ideas or dreams that seize your imagination may not be what they appear. Clarity will be hard to come by. You may have to wait for further information or for things to settle before making up your mind or committing to anything.

The next interesting moment will be when Saturn joins Neptune in Aries on 25th May 2025. The two planets will then slowly get closer together until they’re almost exactly conjunct in July before drifting apart again. They stay close for the rest of the year as they head back into Pisces.

Neptune returns to Pisces on 22nd October 2025. He then goes back into Aries on 26th January 2026 where he stays for the next 12 years until 21st May 2038 when he dips into Taurus. Neptune returns to Aries for his final goodbye on 21st October 2038 until 23rd March 2039 when he enters Taurus for good.

The second ingress in January 2026 also happens conjunct Saturn in Pisces, sextile Uranus, and sextile Pluto conjunct Mars in Aquarius:

Neptune enters Aries in 2026

Shortly after this the exact Saturn Neptune conjunction arrives on 20th February 2026. More on that here. Saturn will then slowly move away from Neptune through 2026 and pulls ahead into Aries on his own by early 2027. So Neptune won’t be free of Saturn’s influence until then. This could be a good thing, or not, depending on your situation.

When Neptune first enters Aries, you may be inspired to take action towards realising your dreams and ideals. As the transit unfolds you may realise that some of these dreams are unrealistic leading to disillusionment. But with Saturn close to Neptune for the first two years of this transit you have the opportunity to take a more realistic approach than maybe you would otherwise.

Saturn will help to bring clarity and keep you grounded in reality so you don’t wander off with the fairies without thinking through the practical implications first. Saturn will also encourage you to build a strong enough sense of self before surrendering to a higher spiritual purpose or power.

On the other hand, the Saturn Neptune conjunction could bring disillusionment right at the start of this transit as your dreams and idealism run up against reality and disintegrate. You may be challenged to surrender some of your individual desires due to external circumstances beyond your control, such as war or economic recession, and so on.

Most of us will probably experience a mixture of these effects in different areas of our lives, depending on exactly how Neptune and Saturn impact our charts. But regardless what happens, just be willing to face reality and work with what comes up. Make the most of the steadying and clarifying impact of Saturn while he’s around and use the time to remember who you are.
