When Pluto transits the 2nd house your need for transformation and power influences your material resources, self-worth and values. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits the 2nd house it brings intensity and evolution to your money and finances, how you earn a living, your possessions and resources, and feelings of security. You could earn money from Plutonian professions, such as research and detective work, psychology, medicine, mining and working underground or undercover, and refurbishing and renovating things, for example.
Pluto will challenge you to transform your approach to money and resources and you may need to question what you value and the way you earn a living. Your level of income could change radically during this transit, either positively or negatively. Don’t panic if you experience a breakdown of your finances – this should change as the transit unfolds if you work with the need to regenerate your approach.
Your feelings of inner security could be challenged and old fears and compulsive emotions related to survival and earning a living could come to the surface, as well as shadow issues around self-worth. You may need to examine your values to see if they’re in alignment with the way you live and develop a healthier relationship to money and possessions so they don’t control your life.
You may decide that your possessions no longer reflect the person you want to be and could have a clear out to get rid of stuff that isn’t valuable to you anymore. You could even make some money selling things that you no longer need. You could also learn new skills to earn money in a different way or increase your cash flow by reconnecting with your inner resources and talents.
You may decide to refocus your attention inwards to find inner security regardless of your outer circumstances. You can empower yourself by examining any issues you have with self-worth and develop greater self-acceptance by valuing yourself for who you are.
If you do lose your job or possessions, try to see this as an opportunity to start again with a reborn sense of self-worth that’s more authentic. By losing something you thought you couldn’t live without you can find a source of inner strength and self-worth that doesn’t depend on how much money you have or what you do for a living.
You can discover what you really need in order to feel secure in the world and in your own body. You can develop a sense of inner security that can’t be touched by changes in the outer world and your self-worth will be rooted in eternal values.
Possibilities with Pluto transiting the 2nd house:
- Unexpected windfall or increase in wealth
- Getting a better job
- Developing new skills and inner resources

- Greater self-acceptance and inner security
Watch out for:

Pluto hit cusp of my second house – lost the family home. Through a 5 year period lost saving from that during all Covid and now have nothing. Still transiting so expecting a positive shift because I have never been in this situation ever – I am in my 50s and cannot find work or a home.
interesting how all doors have closed which used to open very easily…

Thanks Jessica and good to see you back sharing your writings.
Pluto in Capricorn transitted my 2nd House – big career and home changes between 2008 and Jan 2024. I left a successful career in credit risk, banking in 2013, after training to be a yoga teacher and naturopathic nutritional therapist, following a soul call. Still valued the banking days and experiences, including a sensible head with money. The following years after setting up Wholly Aligned, many new skills, deep inner growth due to serious health issues (ongoing since early childhood), and many lessons around power and transformation ranging from relationships, rising from the death ledge, becoming a clearer voice to challenge mainstream approaches to medicine. I moved homes in 2022, selling in a very buoyant London market, facilitating a new bigger home in a quieter coastal town, with my elder parents soon following, who now live up the road. Definitely a lot of shadow work during these years, especially from 2019 onwards.
Your piece made a lot of sense and it always feels so valuable to look at a much wider view, one of the many reasons I love astrology e.g Oh I’m not going mad, it’s just Pluto Paranoia!
