Pluto Transits: 7th House

When Pluto transits the 7th house your need for transformation and power influences your one-to-one relationships. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits the 7th house it brings intensity and evolution to your marriage or partnership, business enterprises, and dealings with therapists or consultants. If you’re alone when the transit starts you may meet someone new who is Plutonian or Scorpionic. They may be intense, emotionally complex, or in crisis, for example, or they have a powerful and transformative effect on you.

Whatever your relationship status, Pluto will challenge you to confront unresolved emotional issues and shadow complexes so you can develop greater authenticity in your relationships with others. Any area that’s not working will be brought into the open and you can discover how you really feel about each other and whether the relationship is based on genuine love or not.

Relationships that have been difficult before this transit could breakdown or go through a crisis, with power struggles, control issues, fears and unconscious patterns of compulsion, obsession, jealousy and rage. Even healthy relationships will deepen and transform as your feelings are intensified.

You may be uncomfortable with these powerful feelings, depending on the rest of your chart, but you can use this time to discover where you give power away to others and learn about your shadow by examining the state of your relationships. Current issues may reflect emotional wounds and childhood traumas that need healing, and it may be a good time for therapy, either for yourself or as a couple.

A good relationship will become stronger as a result of this process, but if you can’t heal the problems within your relationship, it may need to end so you can find someone more suitable for who you’re becoming. You may need to learn to be more independent but this doesn’t mean being alone. You can be true to yourself while remaining in relationship without compromising yourself.

The main challenge with this transit is the tendency to project your shadow. Be especially careful of getting into fights with enemies because it may not go the way you hope. If you find yourself blaming your partner or others for problems, check to see if you’re projecting. The issue may be a reflection of an aspect of your own psyche that you need to take back and accept as yours.

Remember that positive qualities can be projected as well as negative ones. You may need to embrace more Plutonian qualities, such as your power, will, sexuality, passion, depth and intensity, as well as your capacity for betrayal, manipulation, and vindictiveness.

Possibilities with Pluto transiting the 7th house:
  • Starting a new relationship
  • Developing greater intimacy
  • Healing emotional wounds in relationships
  • Taking back your power from a partner
  • Transformative experiences in therapy
  • Starting a new business partnership
Watch out for:
  • End of a relationship
  • Power struggles in relationships
  • Shadow projection onto a partner
  • Provoking fights with open enemies
  • Complex and drawn-out court cases
  • Death of a partner

  1. In 2022, Pluto crossed my sister’s descendant into her 7th house. In 2018, 2020 and again in 2022, her husband experienced a psychotic break and finally took his own life in June of 2022. The hidden, never resolved issues of power and Shadow projection that lay between them finally ended in their most tragic expression of suicide.
