Uranus Transits to the Moon

When Uranus transits the natal Moon your need for freedom and change influences your feelings, habits and emotional patterns. Uranus speeds things up and disrupts old patterns and represents your need for independence and change in this area.

When Uranus transits the natal Moon, you may experience surprises and disruption to your home and family and how you nurture yourself, as well as feelings of security and safety and how you respond instinctively to others. There may also be changes in your relationships to women in general, as well as with your mother or mothering figures in your life.

This may be an exciting but unpredictable time when you can awaken to a wider range of feelings and emotions. Your feelings may be more changeable and impulsive than usual and you may feel restless and find it hard to sleep at times. You can explore your emotional patterns and relationships to see whether they provide the nurturing that you need as well as the freedom to express your own feelings.

Hard aspects to the Moon (conjunction, square or opposition) may bring up painful memories from your childhood that trigger old patterns, and feelings that you’ve repressed could burst back into your awareness demanding expression. But you may also receive insights into your feelings that allow you to heal past hurts and free yourself from emotional habits that keep you stuck.

Possibilities with Uranus transiting the Moon:
  • Moving home
  • Renovating your home
  • Having a child
  • Healing emotional rifts
  • Exploring your role within the family
  • Taking better care of yourself and/or others
Watch out for:
  • Accidents at home
  • Difficulties with your mother and/or women
  • Problems with menopause or puberty
  • Can’t stop crying!
  • Feeling more detached and unemotional
  • Reliving the past in disturbing ways
My notes:

Uranus transited opposite my natal Moon in 1998-99 from age 27–29 when Uranus was in Aquarius in my 1st house. This coincided with when I began working in shitty office jobs to pay the bills because there wasn’t enough work at the recording studio where I was a freelance engineer. It was frustrating because I couldn’t be myself at work. I also moved home and started to share my living space with my then boyfriend which was a big change in my emotional life at the time.

Uranus transited trine my natal Moon in 2013-15 from age 42–43 when Uranus was in Aries in my 2nd house. This coincided with when I was going through the menopause and my hormones were going ballistic and driving me nuts. My feelings were all over the place and I had the usual issues with brain fog, hot flushes, and lack of sleep. This had a bad effect on my health and mood and it was pretty unpleasant, despite being a trine.

There were other transits at the same time which may account for this negative experience, including Pluto entering my 12th house and squaring natal Chiron, Uranus conjunct Chiron, Neptune opposite the Sun, and Saturn opposing natal Saturn.

Uranus transited square my natal Moon in 2021-22 from age 50–51 when Uranus was in Taurus in my 3rd house. This coincided with a period of exhaustion and ill health caused by bad diet and lack of sleep and exercise, the fallout of the stress from the covid insanity the previous year. During the transit I made changes and my mood and health slowly began to improve. I also threw out loads of old college work and stuff that had accumulated over the years, letting go of the past and things I was no longer emotionally attached to.

Early in the transit my Mum had to deal with a stressful situation when my elderly aunt managed to set her flat on fire. The aunt stayed with my parents for several months while the damage was repaired. Uranus was transiting my Mum’s 4th house at the time.

Finally, there was an emotionally shocking event when the man who lived in the flat next door to me was found dead by the police after being alerted by the neighbours. He had learning difficulties and had died alone on the floor of his room and, judging by the smell, had been there for a while, abandoned by everyone who was supposed to care for him. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. 😢

  1. thank you for sharing this insight and personal experience. It’s helpful.

I’m going thru transiting Uranus (9th house Taurus with natal mars) opposite natal moon in 3h scorp.

I’ve been experiencing ill health for nearly a year, unbelievable upheaval in home, no longer speaking with my Mum, and non-stop emo volatility…all of which is extremely hard to accept after 7 long years in dark night, purge, void, unbearable loss, etc.

At this point, I’m surprised I’m still on the planet. But I do try to find gratitude n moments of joy … too much suffering overall. Perhaps one day it’ll make sense, that’s a hard sell tho ;)
