When Uranus transits natal Pluto your need for freedom and change influences how you use your power to evolve on a deep unconscious level. Uranus speeds things up and disrupts old patterns and represents your need for independence and change in this area.

When Uranus transits natal Pluto you may experience surprises and disruption to how you use your instinctual power and inner resources to transform yourself and evolve by overcoming your emotional complexes and compulsive behaviour patterns. This transit brings inevitable change – the kind you can’t avoid or negotiate with. The old order dies so that something new can be born.
Resisting change now will only make things worse and trigger extreme events or emotional reactions, especially with the hard aspects. You may be challenged by forces beyond your control, such as social, political or economic events that transform your view of power and the way it’s used and abused.
You could be on the receiving end of an abuse of power and may need to stand your ground and defend your rights as an individual. Or you could be the one making unreasonable demands and trying to manipulate or control others, perhaps due to fear of powerlessness or loss of control.
You may not be able to control events in the world but you can change your attitude and approach and learn to use your power in more effective ways. You may receive insights into the depths of your psyche that allow you to let go of old ways of being. You can break free of inner and outer obstacles that stop you from growing and becoming more authentic.
This may involve a process of death and renewal that transforms how you see yourself. Uranus brings stuck patterns of unconscious behaviour to the surface so you can see them more clearly and reconnect with and reintegrate your primal instinctual energies. This increases your personal power that you can then channel into constructive or creative activities.
You could also discover hidden gifts or talents that you didn’t know you had or were repressed. By tapping into these inner resources you will feel more alive and whole and this will allow you to transform your life in positive ways.
Possibilities with Uranus transiting Pluto:
- Getting in touch with your personal power
- Discovering hidden talents and gifts
- Increased sex drive – use it wisely!
- Sublimating your sex drive
- Transformative near-death experience
Watch out for:
- Collective changes that alter your social status
- Extreme emotional reactions such as rage and fear
- Survival instincts get triggered
- Illness
- Death of a loved one
My notes:
Uranus transited square my natal Pluto in 1987 from age 16–17 when Uranus was in Sagittarius in my 11th house. This coincided with when I was at sixth form doing my A Levels and lots of music. Just before this I lost my virginity to my first boyfriend who then dumped me when this transit became exact. I wasn’t too upset – more hurt pride – but then a few months later I got myself a new boyfriend who was older and more experienced. We started a long-distance and long-term relationship which I later destroyed under different transits.
Uranus transited trine my natal Pluto in 1994-95 from age 23–25 when Uranus was in Capricorn in my 12th house. This was when I was doing a counselling training course and working with people with addiction to various substances. I wasn’t in a good place myself and was struggling with depression and fears and feeling unsure what to do with my life.
But helping others who were in a worse state than me shifted my perspective and showed that I was stronger than I thought I was. By the end of the transit I had returned to college to study music production so I could make real my dream of becoming a sound engineer.
Uranus transited opposite my natal Pluto in 2009-11 from age 38–40 when Uranus was in Pisces in my 2nd house. This was when I was working as a sound engineer for the local council and writing screenplays and novels in my spare time. It was incredibly stressful and one of the worst transits I’ve experienced – the rage was off the charts!
It started with the council trying to downgrade our jobs so they could pay us less. They were trying to claim that the sound engineers were clerical workers, and therefore should be paid less, because they used computers. I had to write a massive document explaining and justifying why we were worth more because we were specialists – it wasn’t like the admin people could’ve recorded the newspaper if we weren’t there!
In the end it was for nothing because by the end of the transit the service was closed and we were all made redundant. In the meantime I was getting death threats from a neighbour at home, including false accusations of anti-social behaviour. My stress levels went through the roof and my health started to deteriorate. One of my teeth crumbled and fell out and I started to look like an extra from The Walking Dead. Somehow, I managed to write through all of this and completed my first novel by some miracle.
Uranus will transit trine my natal Pluto in 2024-25 from age 53–54 when Uranus is in Taurus in my 3rd house. This is a current transit and part of the mini triangle configuration – I may update this later…
