Neptune Transits: 5th House

When Neptune transits the 5th house your need for transcendence and imagination influences your need for creativity and self-expression. Neptune inspires new dreams and dissolves old structures and represents your need to spiritualise and refine this area of your life.

When Neptune transits the 5th house it brings inspiration and confusion to your relationship with children and in romance and how you have fun with hobbies, entertainment and sports, as well as how you express yourself through creative work.

Neptunian hobbies include things like exploring your creativity, going to the cinema or theatre, reading literature and poetry, or anything involving water such as fishing, sailing, going on a cruise, or pampering yourself at a spa or baths. Or you could drink more alcohol or experiment with drugs to expand your consciousness.

Aside from having fun, you may also use hobbies to escape from painful feelings or difficult situations that you need to deal with. This could be true of any hobby but you may need to be especially careful not to go overboard with drugs, booze or gambling because they can be addictive and lead to serious losses.

Your love life could become complicated as your boundaries dissolve making you more sensitive to the feelings of others. This could create blissful experiences of love and oneness, but you may also idealise your partners or get embroiled in victim/saviour dynamics. You may be vulnerable to exploitation or disillusionment as your perception of others is mixed up with your dreams and hopes.

If you have children they may experience a Neptunian phase, becoming more imaginative and creative, or struggling with drug problems or illnesses that require extra care and support. You could idealise your children or become emotionally enmeshed with them and unable to see them clearly as individuals. There may be suffering or losses associated with pregnancy, or an opportunity to learn faith and compassion through your children.

Neptune also heightens your imagination and you could receive inspiring visions that you can put into creative work, such as writing novels and poetry, music, film, photography, drama, fashion, and dance. You may be disappointed with your initial efforts, but all creativity takes time and you’ll need self-discipline to make your ideas real – so don’t quit the day job!

If you don’t make the effort to give form to your imagination by testing it against reality, your dreams and fantasies could take over. As Neptune dissolves your sense of self you could struggle to discern the realistic possibilities from all the noise. You could become lost in illusions and never find your way back out. But the point of this transit is to discover your true identity underneath all the fantasies and dreams.
