Neptune Transits: 6th House

When Neptune transits the 6th house your need for transcendence and imagination influences your daily routine, health habits and job. Neptune inspires new dreams and dissolves old structures and represents your need to spiritualise and refine this area of your life.

When Neptune transits the 6th house you may experience inspiration and confusion with your work and relationship to colleagues, your diet and health habits, illness and potential for healing, as well as pets and service. You may want to work in a Neptunian job, including healing, creativity, spirituality, alcohol, drugs and pharmaceuticals, or anything related to water and the ocean.

Your feelings about work could change and you may become disillusioned with your job and want to find something more ideal. There could be deception or misunderstandings or a need to make sacrifices or you may have to give up work due to health problems. But you could also find your dream job or develop greater faith in relation to your work.

Your increased sensitivity could lower your energy levels making you more prone to illness and stress. You could struggle with health issues that are hard to diagnose and may be more sensitive to alcohol, drugs and chemicals in your food and environment. You may want to experiment with your diet and sacrifice certain foods that you can no longer tolerate – no more sugar! – and could become obsessive about your health or search for the ideal diet.

You may need to be careful of fads and extreme diets that could damage your health and use the discernment and common sense of Virgo to ensure you don’t make yourself ill. Always get the best advice that you can afford before doing anything drastic. You may also want to explore the emotional or psychological roots of your health problems so you can heal old wounds and reconnect with your deeper Self.

Your perception may be heightened allowing you to see and hear with greater clarity but this could also leave you feeling overwhelmed and highly strung. You could become so disoriented by your blurred boundaries that you struggle to cope with your daily routines and the practical realities of life. You may need to take breaks from any stressors so you can relax and downregulate your nervous system.

But you can also see into the mystical unity of all things and may be inspired by ordinary moments or uplifted by a vision that comes during a mundane situation. Keeping a pet may also bring inspiration and you could become interested in keeping an aquarium, rescuing abandoned animals or taking in strays.

Possibilities with Neptune transiting the 6th House:
  • Searching for your dream job
  • Reassessing your work-life balance
  • Expressing compassion through being of service
  • Inspiration to improve your health and find healing
  • Finding faith in the details of life
  • Getting a new pet to love

Watch out for:

  • Disillusionment with your job
  • Unfairly targeted or cancelled at work
  • Increased sensitivity to drugs and chemicals
  • Health problems caused by stress
  • Fad diets that make you ill
  • Inability to cope with daily life

My Notes:

Neptune would enter my 6th house in 2071 at age 101 so I probably won’t live to see it! If you’ve had this transit, please share your experience in the comments below…

  1. Wow, it’s amazing reading through this how accurate it is. Im a libra rising so pisces is my 6th house and I currently have saturn, neptune, mercury and north node transiting the 6th house. I have had longstanding health issues but more recently about a year and a half ago I had a health issue caused by me being injured at work, I work in healthcare. It has been an ongoing struggle where no one has been able to clearly diagnose what is going on, but the pain is everyday. I have had to seriously rethink my career and am trying to find a different job. Meanwhile over the last summer I spent a lot of time near water and the ocean, it is where I felt the best. I have been trying to get my routine in order when it comes to my health as well as spirituality, what is my meaning in life, how to align myself with a job that meets these goals. My boyfriend and I are even considering getting a dog! I appreciate the well thought out article.

  2. Jessica, thank you so much for this article. It’s so helpful. Reading this was like having a light come on. Neptune’s been in my 6th house, where my Mercury is in Pisces, since 2011. I was an RN working in Information Technology. I didn’t like my job but around that time it became unbearable. I finally retired much earlier than I should have (financially, not age wise. I retired at almost age 64). I’d always been known to be centered and peaceful and I just fell apart emotionally. I was suddenly unable to express myself and actually cried at work. My health totally fell apart. I keep falling and breaking things and developed sensitivities to mold, VOC’s and other things. I’ve had 3 surgeries and developed osteoporosis so bad that I fractured my L5 vertebrae just by bending over to pick up dog poop! I can see the energy that many people talk about where they feel something small jump on their bed and walk towards them. People often think it’s a “ghost cat”. I started being able to see it and it’s a swirling mass of grayish energy with sparks in it and a texture that you can put your hands through and feel and it’s cool to the touch. I’m super sensitive and cry at everything. The sad thing is that I’ve been on a spiritual path for over 40 years and very close to Mother Gaia, Nature and crystals and have now been less sensitive when it comes to all of that. I’ve become distracted and can’t seem to sit still long enough to work with crystals or take a shamanic journey and go deep. I’m an Aries in the 7th house, with Libra rising, Moon in Cancer, conjunct Uranus in the 10th house.

    1. Thanks for sharing your story, Diana. It can be a shock when your sensitivity level changes and suddenly you can feel things and see things you couldn’t before. Maybe you’re being challenged to take a different approach to your spiritual practice. I hope you can find a way to heal your sensitivities as Neptune enters Aries and then moves into your 7th house.

  3. I am a 12 house Virgo Sun and currently have transiting Neptune in opposition. My natal Neptune is in my 3rd house (Sagittarius) and conjunct my mom’s Sun. She passed away as the Moon and Sun were transiting her 8th house. A lot of stuff has come to me since she died and I’m just doing my best to grow from it, but it has been a really tough time.

  4. well I can’t say it’s been fun. However the secrets within my family came to light and when light is he’d on secrets they disappear. It’s remarkable. When Neptune went into Pisces my mother fell broke hips and wound up in rehab first then assisted living then nursing home. Then died on 2016. I was the caretaker and financials were safe with me instead of my brother who would have stole everything. iIn 2022 my husband had a stoke and has recovered but yet can’t walk with stability and therefore our world has changed and all our plans are gone. He is 12 years older than me and I am in good health and now basically am helping him to survive. it’s been a terrible time and since I do believe in keeping my responsibilities to my mom and my husband I would be lying if I said I felt good about the amount of work and the inability to have my desires count. It’s all gone. some good things though; I found out my mom had issues and as a child I was the victim. When I found out my mother was molested as a child and I felt compassion no more hatred. When my husband had a stroke I saved his life. Very happy about that

Now that Saturn will be meeting up with Neptune I am fearful about what might happen next.

    1. You’ve had a lot to deal with already but Saturn doesn’t have to be scary. It could bring some clarity and structure to a difficult situation and help you to define your boundaries more clearly. Sometimes endurance is the only way through, and Saturn can certainly help with that.

  5. Neptune has been in my 6th house since 2011/12, while Pluto has been in my 4th. It’s been a time of restructuring everything about my life. It was difficult, but so, so helpful. I’ve been fairly reclusive during these years while doing a deep dive with therapy and somatic work to understand myself and my choices better. Many relationships changed or ended. I’m now coming out of wanting so much solitude, but with many natal planets and sun in the 12th house, quite a bit of alone time will serve me. I now live near a small village by the ocean surrounded by nature, instead of in the city. I have a “rescue” dog who lights my heart up (my second during this time frame). I volunteer with animals and for the local food bank. I’ve transitioned out of my previous career and am training for a new one that aligns me with the magic of nature more closely. My spirituality completely changed, letting go of beliefs that never fit, and instead, exploring and aligning with more earth based spirituality. Daily life has been tough to reckon with and I’ve been caught in daydreams and in my head with not enough structure in my life for a time. That’s been improving for a while now. Most of this time period has felt like being hit by a train, but now that I’m coming out on the other side of it, I’m incredibly grateful for having this reevaluation and restructuring with good support offered by the Universe. I love how completely your piece describes my experience of this transit. Thank you.
