The Jupiter Uranus Conjunction April 2024

Last time we explored the history of the Jupiter Uranus conjunction and what happened during the previous cycle of these two planets. We’re now at the start of a new cycle that officially begins with the conjunction on 21st April 2024 at 21°49’ Taurus, with a 10-degree orb from 17th February to 16th June. In this post, we’ll explore what might happen next…

As we saw in the last post, Jupiter Uranus alignments combine idealism, innovation and revolution with optimism, expansion and growth. They coincide with periods of rapid change in multiple areas characterised by breakthroughs in science and technology, political revolutions and social uprisings, philosophical and creative innovation and new ideas, and a general desire for greater freedom in society.

With the conjunction falling in Taurus, we can also expect change in the areas of finance, agriculture, food production, values and our relationship to nature.

Alongside this transit, Pluto will be in Aquarius intensifying the desire to make radical changes to society and technology and may push things to extremes. Although Pluto doesn’t directly aspect the conjunction until later in May when the mini triangle between all three outer planets moves into orb, with Neptune sextile both Uranus and Pluto who are trine each other (more on that here).

The sextile from Neptune could inspire visionary breakthroughs of great imagination and scope, but could also fuel delusion and self-deception. We may believe that our ideologies are true and good and that we’re improving things, but in reality, we could be digging a hole for ourselves that leads to massive disillusionment later.

We can get a feel for what might happen during this conjunction by looking at the little preview we got last year when Jupiter and Uranus moved into a wide orb for several months from 22th July to 17th October 2023. During this time, the mini triangle was also in orb with Uranus sextile Neptune and trine Pluto, although Jupiter didn’t aspect any of the outer planets himself.

These months saw an enormous number of changes around the world, including many breakthroughs in science, genetics, and AI – too many to mention – but here are some highlights, starting with politics and economics:

  • The rebellions in West and Central African nations continued with coups in Niger and Gabon where the people are fed up with colonialism and determined to take power back from the West
  • France announced the end of its military presence in Niger and recalled their ambassador
  • The African Union was included as a member of the G20 for the first time
  • Interest rates and prices kept rising in the UK, EU and US
  • Lots of strikes by workers seeking better pay and working conditions
  • The Israel-Palestine conflict erupted again with a surprise attack by Hamas, and AI was used to create propaganda images for the war, probably not the first time this has happened and won’t be the last. Social media was used to spread fake images as well as to reveal the lies:
Remember: ‘Chinese agents’ can also be funded by Western intelligence (click to see full size)

In science and technology:

  • Researchers reported the first image of quantum entanglement in a new technique for quantum information processing, and a new record for quantum coherence was also reported
  • Sequencing of the human Y chromosome was finally completed
  • New method developed for producing gene-edited spider silk that’s stronger than Kevlar
  • The developers of mRNA vaccines were awarded the Nobel Prize for their work (they might want to give that back later)
  • Project Gutenberg made thousands of audiobooks available created using generative AI with near-natural voice. I sampled Wuthering Heights and didn’t get far because it pronounced ‘Heathcliff as ‘Hethcliff’! Near-natural isn’t even close to being good enough yet.

In environmental science:

  • A study warned that the AMOC is weakening and could collapse this century (the ocean currents that keep the northern hemisphere warm)
  • Another study found harmful ‘forever chemicals’ in food and water
  • A genetically engineered microorganism was shown to break down certain microplastics in water (great news!)
  • A breakthrough in desalination using a solar-powered device produced freshwater cheaper than tap water (could be handy in the future)

In space:

  • India’s Chandrayaan-3 became the first spacecraft to land near the south pole of the Moon, and they also launched their first solar observation mission, Aditya-L1
  • The James Webb Space Telescope continued to beam incredible images of deep space that are challenging ideas in cosmology
  • Pairs of massive planets, called JuMBOs, unconnected to any star, were spotted hanging around the Orion Nebula
  • Samples from the Bennu asteroid were returned to earth from the OSIRIS-REx mission
  • Scientists started to worry about the enormous number of satellites in earth orbit which could cause problems
  • NASA announced its first public study on UAP (formally known as UFOs) and I’m sure they’ll tell us the truth!

I’ll say this again because it bears repeating: these alignments don’t make things happen. We see these kinds of breakthroughs and innovations happening all the time but the most significant ones may be more likely to occur during a Jupiter Uranus alignment. They’re possible at any time but more probable when Jupiter and Uranus team up.

It’s also hard to know how significant some of these changes are because it takes a long time for them to catch on. Scientific breakthroughs in particular can take decades to filter through to the rest of us. For example, most people will probably never eat 3D printed food or have a child made from the DNA of three people – developments from the previous cycle.

There’s no doubt that the pace of change will accelerate in the coming years once Uranus gets into Gemini and trines Pluto in Aquarius. We’re likely to see many of the things we take for granted totally transformed and revolutionised and it’ll be hard to keep up with the number of breakthroughs and new possibilities. But how many of these will take hold and become part of everyday life is impossible to say.

We should also remember that many of the claims made about new technology and AI in particular are hype. The technology rarely works the way it’s presented in the media and much of the automation isn’t automated at all but relies on the ‘ghost work’ of humans who make the internet look smart.

Obviously, the technology will keep improving and there’ll be more breakthroughs, not just during the Jupiter Uranus conjunction but over the next several years. We can look forward to many positive and liberating changes, as well as more complex and unpredictable events and shocking reversals that will have huge consequences around the world.

Following what we’ve already experienced in recent years, here are a few possibilities – you can add your own ideas to the list in the comments:

Artificial Intelligence will continue to develop and improve and the use of digital assistants and chat bots will grow exponentially. Whether this is a good idea or not depends on how they’re used. Their ‘intelligence’ depends on how they’re programmed and that depends on the intelligence of the programmers. ChatGPT, for example, doesn’t think and can’t think and never will think, although they want you to think that it will (or already does). It’s just a mimic – as Sumo explains in this great article.

It may look cute but it’s logging all your data and sending it to HQ!

Digital ID systems are already being introduced in many places and they’ll continue to be rolled out, especially when Uranus gets into Gemini. Although Uranus won’t take kindly to any restrictions on freedom so it’s hard to see them working the way people fear, at least not for long – even if the energy grid stays on.

The assumption is that we’ll end up with a Chinese-style social credit system that controls everything we do. But the information we have about that system may not be reliable and it could be mostly propaganda. It’s hard to tell but it sounds more like a fantasy of what the people in power would like to do rather than what’s actually possible in technical terms.

That could change, obviously, and the Jupiter Uranus conjunction may bring new ideas and breakthroughs that overturn the way we see this whole area. This will also include developments in digital currencies, crypto and bitcoin, and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs).

Both the UK and the EU have announced plans to introduce digital versions of the Pound and the Euro but they’re both still in the design phase. They’re not planning to get rid of cash (they say) and we might see a decision by the end of 2025 (ready for the Saturn Neptune conjunction). It all seems very equivocal, maybe because they know it won’t work as advertised and they don’t appear to be planning to force it on people the way they did in Nigeria with disastrous results.

We’ll have to watch for developments in April and see what happens. In the meantime, there may be disruption and reform to the banking system that comes from outside the West from the new multipolar alliances that are gathering strength in the rest of the world. They’re setting up their own currencies and trade networks which will redraw the power map of the world in the coming years.

As the financial system of the West teeters under the burden of debt, it may trigger extreme volatility and unpredictable events in the markets and with inflation. There may be shocks and erratic price rises with potential gains and losses, and maybe interest rates will finally start to come down. But the pressure on households will continue, along with the call to do something to address the growing inequality in society.

The Jupiter Uranus conjunction could seed new and innovative economic ideas, although we might not see the results for a while. A debt jubilee would be great but we’re unlikely to get that. Some sort of Universal Basic Income may be announced but it might not arrive until later, possibly during the Saturn Neptune conjunction. There may also be changes to pay and employment rights or tax cuts.

Solar panels busy despoiling the environment and failing to provide enough electricity – Yay green energy!

One way they could raise some cash to keep the bankrupt system afloat would be the development of carbon taxes and the financialisation of nature as part of the ‘Green New Deal’. This would involve using forests and rivers and so on as collateral to print more money – essentially mortgaging off national parks and nature in order to reinflate the debt bubble (and line their own pockets in the process). They could also do this with asteroids, or even the Moon, in order to plunder them for resources.

There may be breakthroughs and innovation in farming, agriculture, and climate science, with new technologies to clean up the environment or make current technology more nature-friendly. However, overzealous reforms to farming could lead to food shortages and social unrest. Changes pushed through now could have serious consequences in the future, especially when Saturn enters Taurus in 2028 and runs into Chiron and squares Pluto.

There are good ways to reform and improve agriculture but it has to be done carefully and realistically and over time. Reforms driven by ideologies backfire when they collide with real life and that may already be happening. The attempt to force people to meet net zero targets will continue to cause political turmoil with pushback against low traffic neighbourhoods, electric vehicles, the banning of gas stoves, and the culling of cows, to name a few.

There may be more surprises as the difference between real environmentalism and net zero green-washing becomes even more obvious. Fewer people want to eat fake meat and plant-based food companies keep going bust. With any luck, Jupiter and Uranus will continue this trend. The interest in homesteading and growing your own food will also continue to expand as people yearn to return to a simpler life based on building strong local communities.

Finally, we will definitely see more innovations in physics and science and our understanding of reality and the cosmos. There could be breakthroughs in almost any area, including plasma physics, electromagnetics, and cosmology, and maybe the beginning of the end of materialist science. This could even have an impact on astrology and allow the discipline to contribute to the development of new ideas in cosmology.

Don’t expect any of these things to happen overnight. This conjunction represents a pivot point or seed moment that sets changes in motion. We’ll see the results unfold over the coming years.

In the next post, we’ll explore how this conjunction may work on a personal level

  1. Great article. Credible evidence thru corp agmts etc for tech being used UBI maybe programmable: how it’s spent w/6-12 mths to use/can’t save. J.Powell on video 2-3 yrs ago: they’ve been looking at digital currencies (stable coins/ CBDCs) for 2 decades. I’ve heard by time a tech is publicly avail already decades old from military and what we don’t see is even more advanced. Few astrologers/ readers comment on those in power using astrology for their own benefit esp key dates for centuries if not longer. USMC had remote viewing pgm. We’ll see how it plays out but not sure it’s accurate to say the tech is still being designed. I think will find its more about phases/ timing.

    1. I probably didn’t make myself clear. When I said they’re still designing their systems I didn’t mean the tech itself – I meant the legal frameworks and reasons for doing it.

  2. Wow, this has been one of the best overviews of this conjunction and potential implications that I have read so far. I have been reading your blog a lot lately and I can’t believe I didn’t come across this sooner. Do you feel that this upcoming volatile eclipse season coinciding with this conjunction is the perfect storm for a cyber/grid/energy collapse or disruption?

  3. Thanks for this Jessica.

Any thoughts on the upcoming Uranus/ fixed star Algol conjunctions: July 12 2024: October 25: April 29 2025, and how these may manifest ?

I had noticed that Putin invaded Ukraine on the day that the North Node was exactly conjunct Algol.

  4. Hi Jessica-

Would it be possible to give a synopsis for all of your Neptunian/Pisces supporters and tell us what this aspect might mean? I have four planets and Pisces, Mercury on the cusp of my 3rd/4th house and the remainder in my fourth house, Scorpio rising and Libra moon in the 10th Thank you! 1. Hi Janis – there’s another post coming next week that covers the personal effects of this transit. But with Scorpio rising the conjunction will be in your 7th or 6th house, depending on the degree of your ascendant. So it will influence your relationships or your work and health, etc.

As to your Pisces planets, the conjunction might form a sextile to them if they fall around 21 degrees. Look out for the post next week!
