Neptune Transits to Chiron

When Neptune transits natal Chiron your need for transcendence and imagination influences your wounds and need for healing. Neptune inspires new dreams and dissolves old structures and represents your need to spiritualise and refine this area of your life.

When Neptune transits natal Chiron you may experience inspiration and confusion with the awareness of your wounds and need for healing, as well as how you share your gifts of wisdom and grow towards wholeness. This is a generational transit that affects whole groups of people at the same time but you’ll also experience it on a personal level based on the placement of your natal Chiron.

Neptune increases your sensitivity to old wounds and painful feelings which gives you an opportunity to heal and let go of the past. Your defences dissolve giving you access to memories and parts of your being that you’ve repressed so that you can reintegrate them and become whole. By embracing compassion and self-acceptance you can be yourself without judgement or condemnation.

You may become more intuitive and receive insights into yourself and reality. You could also be more aware of the feelings you’re picking up from others and may need to explore ways to deal with your empathy without shutting down your sensitivity. You could become overwhelmed so need to remember to practice self-care and maintain healthy boundaries.

Hard aspects to Chiron (conjunction, square and opposition) may be more challenging and you could be vulnerable to deception or manipulation, especially by anyone who promises redemption or healing, such as therapists or spiritual gurus. You could also deceive yourself about your feelings to avoid facing your wounds or retraumatise yourself by refusing to let go of the past.

You may try to avoid your feelings through addiction to alcohol or drugs or anything that allows you to escape reality, including spiritual bypassing. Your pain could make you more susceptible to misperceptions and illusions which leave you trapped in repeating patterns of self-sabotage and destructiveness. But if you can face reality, Neptune will dissolve these patterns of wounding and release you from your pain.

You could experience a spiritual awakening or breakthrough that changes how you see your suffering and allows you to transcend your experience without denying it. You can learn to trust the process of healing and put your experience into a wider perspective that gives it greater meaning and deepens your faith in yourself and your ability to heal.

You may become interested in psychology or alternative therapies and techniques for healing, including spiritual practice, meditation, and prayer, as well as art therapy, dream work, and communing with nature. You could become a healer yourself and share the hard-won wisdom and experience you gained on your healing journey with others.

You could also explore your creativity and express your imagination through any medium that works for you, such as music, writing, poetry, film, photography, fashion, or dance. Creativity could become a way for you to purge and process your feelings as well as sublimate them by turning them into art. You can work through your pain and help others at the same time.

My Notes:

Neptune transited square my natal Chiron in 1988-89, from age 17 to 19, when Neptune was in Capricorn in my 11th house. This coincided with when I was finishing sixth form doing my A Levels and then working for a year before leaving home to go to college to study music.

It was quite a healing period, full of fun and meeting new friends and making music. There were no breakthroughs or healing revelations, just the slow process of growing up and discovering who I wanted to be. During this time I wrote some songs with an old school friend and we hired a studio to record the tracks. This consolidated my dream of becoming a sound engineer that wouldn’t be realised until much later.

Neptune transited sextile my natal Chiron in 2002-3, from age 31 to 32, when Neptune was in Aquarius in my 12th house, right on the cusp of my Ascendant and about to go into the 1st house. This coincided with when I was recording a talking newspaper for the local council.

My dream of being a sound engineer had come true but not quite in the way I’d imagined and I was feeling frustrated at the lack of creativity. I knew I needed to be more intuitive and accept my mystical and imaginative side but wasn’t able to fully embrace it.

Early in the transit I was resisting change and drinking heavily to drown my feelings. But then something shifted and I started to make changes. I gave up the booze and took up yoga which had an immediate positive effect on my mood. But the big shift didn’t happen until Neptune crossed my Ascendent shortly after this transit ended…

Neptune will conjunct my natal Chiron in 2029-30, from age 58 to 59, when Neptune is in Aries in my 2nd house. This is an approaching transit and part of the mini triangle configuration

  1. A big fat YEP to all of the above “side effects.” It’s time for one big cosmic KO to unlock (intended based upon the shape of the symbol) various heavy feelings and the pesky empathy (which has me absorbing everything my “neighbors” are experiencing inside them, like Deanna Troi on mental steroids…which is preventing me from being a functional adult and, with the help of the Paris Olympics, sending me down a creative spiral/rabbit hole. Sure, creativity, good…but I feel like I’m on the verge of losing a grip on life.
