Outer Planets Triangle 2024–28 and Your Natal Chart

Last time we explored how the current Neptune midpoint relates to the Crisis of Modernity and the ways that society has transformed since the previous midpoint. We’re in the middle of a huge shift in our understanding of ourselves and that is forcing us to change – ready or not. How this plays out in society depends on you, so in this post we’ll explore how the mini triangle between Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will influence your natal chart.

As we’ve seen, the outermost planets are currently aligned in a configuration known as a minor grand trine or mini triangle with Neptune at the apex. This is also called a transiting midpoint and the ones with Neptune in the middle only happen once every 500 years. It represents a turning point in the history of civilisation that will transform the way we live in ways we can’t imagine.

This is an incredibly significant alignment that’s formed from the Uranus Pluto trine with Neptune sextile both from the middle. Using an 8-degree orb for the trine and 6 degrees for the sextiles, it began moving into position in 2022 when Uranus and Neptune approached the end of Taurus and Pisces. Since then, the individual aspects that make up the triangle have been toggling in and out of orb and this year it lines up from 28th May 2024 until 11th January 2025.

After that, the mini triangle returns on 21st April 2025 and stays in place, more or less, until the end of the decade. During that time it will form three significant close alignments once Uranus has entered Gemini and Neptune has entered Aries. The alignments happen in the first decan of Aquarius, Aries, and Gemini on these dates:

  • First triangle at 1° from 20th August to 14th September 2025
  • Second triangle at 4° from 7th to 31st July 2026
  • Third triangle at 6° from 5th to 17th June 2027

These dates mark the periods when the alignments are closest but the mini triangle remains in orb throughout the entire period. After this, it stays in place until September 2028 and then the individual aspects begin to fade in and out of orb into 2029, although it continues to hang around until 2030-31 before dissolving completely.

Meanwhile, the Saturn Neptune conjunction aligns with the first mini triangle in 2025. It enters an 8-degree orb on 3rd March 2025 and gets to within 12 minutes of exact on 15th July 2025. The exact aspect is formed on 20th February 2026 and then the planets begin to move in and out of orb from May 2026 until February 2027.

Neptune midpoint in 2025 with Saturn

How this influences your chart depends on where your natal placements are, as well as the orb you use for transits. The closest triangle alignments are in Aquarius, Aries and Gemini, but it’s also in orb when Uranus is still at the end of Taurus and Neptune is at the end of Pisces in 2024–25.

So using a 3-degree orb, this alignment will impact placements from 28 to 9 degrees in your chart. Or you can use a 5-degree orb which covers 26 to 11 degrees, or an 8-degree orb which covers 23 to 14 degrees. If you don’t have any placements between these degrees, then this mini triangle configuration will pass you by – you may want to count yourself lucky!

In simple terms:

  • Pluto in Aquarius will oppose Leo and square Taurus and Scorpio, and will trine Libra and Gemini, and sextile Aries and Sagittarius
  • Neptune in Aries will oppose Libra and square Cancer and Capricorn, and will trine Leo and Sagittarius, and sextile Gemini and Aquarius
  • Uranus in Gemini will oppose Sagittarius and square Virgo and Pisces, and will trine Libra and Aquarius, and sextile Aries and Leo
  • And of course, Pluto conjuncts placements in Aquarius, Neptune conjuncts placements in Aries, and Uranus conjuncts placements in Gemini

For natal placements at the end of a sign, simply look at the previous sign as listed above. For example, Pluto in Aquarius will oppose placements at the end of Cancer and square Aries and Libra, and so on. Here are some impact charts showing the influence of each of these transits:

If you have any placements at exactly 1, 4, or 6 degrees then you’ll have Uranus, Neptune and Pluto hitting those placements simultaneously. This represents a powerful period of transformation that may not be easy to handle, depending on how you normally work with these energies. We’ll explore how to do that in the next post.

To see how the mini triangle transits will influence a natal chart, we can use mine as an example (see below). I don’t have any placements at exactly 1, 4 or 6 degrees so the transits will be staggered over time, although their influence does overlap. Pluto is transiting at the end of my 12th house, while Neptune is in my 2nd house, and Uranus is at the end of my 3rd house.

The only natal planets that aren’t affected by degree are the Moon, Venus and Saturn. Everything else receives a transit or multiple transits. The main natal configuration that’s affected is the Saturn Neptune T-square with Mars, plus the Mercury Pluto conjunction which is trine Saturn and sextile Neptune making a wedge.

Right now (May 2024) Uranus is conjunct natal Saturn – not technically part of the mini triangle transits but it then goes on to trine Pluto, square Mars, trine Mercury and oppose Neptune. Meanwhile, Neptune is opposing natal Pluto and Mercury and forming a trine to natal Neptune. Pluto is ahead of the others and has moved beyond the trine to itself and Mercury and the sextile to Neptune, and is now square natal Jupiter.

In 2025 Saturn will catch up with Neptune and run through the same series of transits. The Saturn Neptune conjunction itself won’t hit any of my placements exactly but it will be in orb of opposing my Mercury Pluto conjunction.

As the mini triangle moves further into the first decan, Uranus will square my nodes and then my Sun. Then as the final triangle is formed, Uranus will trine itself and conjunct my IC, entering my 4th house in 2027, and then sextile Chiron, while Neptune opposes natal Uranus and conjuncts Chiron. Pluto will also trine natal Uranus and sextile Chiron as he moves to conjunct my Ascendant, although he doesn’t cross into the 1st house until 2029.

My chart with mini triangle

Due to the shape of my chart some of my placements only receive transits from one of the outermost planets. But if we include quincunx transits (I don’t normally) then my natal Jupiter and Sun will also be hit by all three planets. Neptune and Uranus will quincunx my Jupiter alongside the Pluto square. And then later, Pluto and Neptune will quincunx my Sun alongside the square from Uranus.

How do I interpret all this? Massive change over the next several years, obviously. But what?! It’s a little overwhelming. 😳

You may be facing a similar scenario. To understand what might happen, you can start by exploring how the planets influence each sign. However, you may find that the house placement is more significant with the sign being more collective in its influence. You then translate that into your experience via the house placement.

Uranus in Gemini

Disrupts and revolutionises how we think and communicate and share information, as well as how we relate to neighbours, and how we trade and transport goods and get around. It will also transform the internet, data storage, computer modelling and AI, and how we use electricity, as well as education and teaching. There could be breakthroughs in any of these areas, as well as unexpected reversals and surprises.

We could also see more fighting between neighbours in civil wars and revolutions against established powers, especially if this reinforces the decentralisation trend of the Jupiter Saturn air cycle conjunctions. It will also speed up the pace of change and increase instability in general.

On a personal level, Uranus in Gemini is the perfect time to explore your consciousness and free yourself from habits of thought that hold you back and learn new skills that open up your life. You may receive new ideas and breakthroughs that change the way you see yourself and reality. This will manifest through the Gemini area of your chart. (more on Uranus in Gemini)

Neptune in Aries

Dissolves boundaries and idealises heroes, the individual and the need for sovereignty, as well as the aggressive instincts and drive towards taking action. It will inspire new beginnings and a vision of society that may be idealistic, including new religions and a spiritual renaissance, inspirational art, films, music, photography, and fashion, and an outpouring of creativity and imagination.

It could also reinforce the belligerence of Uranus in Gemini by encouraging idealistic revolutions and rebellions, as well as religious or cultural wars, civil wars, and wars involving water or at sea. Many of our illusions could be revealed and there may be mass disillusionment and a rise in compassion for the vulnerable.

On a personal level, Neptune in Aries is the perfect time to be inspired by a new creative vision for your life or to undergo a spiritual renewal of faith and practice. You can receive insights into your true nature and awaken to who you really are by seeing the reality behind the illusion and translate that into compassionate action in the world. This will manifest through the Aries area of your chart. (more on Neptune in Aries)

Pluto in Aquarius

Destroys and transforms our view of humanity and society through revolutions in science, technology, and philosophy. This may involve a process of breakdown and death as the old order is deconstructed before a new vision emerges in a rebirth of society. It will bring to the surface corruption and compulsive behaviour and emotions in these areas so they can be transformed.

This process will be inspired by the breakthroughs of Uranus in Gemini and together they could bring many positive changes. But it could also feed ideological fanaticism and extremism that pushes humanity into a very dark place. This initiation through confrontation with the shadow will also be reinforced by the idealistic delusions of Neptune in Aries – unless we, as individuals, can make better choices.

On a personal level, Pluto in Aquarius is the perfect time to transform how you relate to society by rediscovering the meaning of your humanity and embracing the process of individuation. You can learn to think more objectively and add your voice to the conversation without becoming lost in groupthink and ideology. This will manifest through the Aquarius area of your chart. (more on Pluto in Aquarius)

Regardless how Uranus, Neptune and Pluto influence your chart over the next several years, this period contains enormous potential for you to make a radical transformation of your life and consciousness. It won’t be easy or straightforward but much of what happens will depend on your attitude.

To get the best out of these transits you need to be as self-aware as possible and willing to work with the energies on a conscious level. Unfortunately, the collective masses won’t do this and that makes negative manifestations more likely. The mini triangle could encourage Uranus, Neptune and Pluto to work together to bring about a positive transformation, but they could also reinforce the worst aspects of each other’s energies.

The difference is up to you and how willing you are to take responsibility and actually work with the stuff that comes up. The worst thing you can do is follow the crowd and just let things unfold and hope for the best. So in the next post, we’ll explore how to work with the energies of this mini triangle in your chart

  1. Thank you for all your illuminating posts! This Neptune midpoint will definitely part of my life!! The first triangle in September ’24 with Neptune at 28° Pisces will feature on my Solar Return making a Kite to my Sun/Pluto. And then the following at 1° Aries will be trining my Neptune-Jupiter at 0-1° Sagittarius (still opposing my Sun-Pluto), and then at 4° Aries will be opposing my Venus, and to put the cherry on the cake, at 6° Aries, it will sextiling my Saturn… And in the process, Pluto will cross my ASC… Mmmm… I need to fasten my seat-belt!

Well, I am already pretty shaky with Jupiter-Uranus quincunxing my Moon-MC, now being opposed by Chiron. I definitely need a brake (will have to wait some years, hahaha!).

And by the way, I find quincunxes in all forms (natal, progressed, transiting…) being extremely powerful. To my it is a major aspect! Bringing a lot of stress and feeling stuck, without knowing which way to move, but potentially bringing totally new ways to live the energies involved. Inshallah!

  2. We are going through enormous changes in our world and societies, and here you are: “these are the precise astro aspects that are creating this… and coming soon is how to work with this” = very good approach. thank you. I am buying into the idea that with consciousness and intent to lose our ‘baggage’ ( fear / anger etc) it is quite possible to have a very different experience of the world from even a next door neighbour and that our awareness is going to be more important than ever before. Can we say these heavy outer planets have our evolution of consciousness as their aim, however it plays out in the world ? And yes – a big fear is the takeover of the masses by ideology, and we are already seeing the establishment’s social engineering exploiting this ( maybe !) I have a question:

people with late degree placings eg 28 deg cancer (me) ,say, – we have had a few years of pluto opposite sun and have neptune trine sun now and uranus moving towards a sextile with ntal sun- having weathered/ survived/ healed from ( etc) these influences are you saying that even as they start to move out of orb, that this particular rare energy configuration will then have a new lease of life and effect on us ?? Or, just a cementing of the various huge changes they will already have brought by that point? Am i overthinking this ? People with those 1deg placings are going to cop the whole lot at once? wow.

    1. Once a planet moves out of orb of a transit to your chart you may still be processing what’s happened and the changes that you need to incorporate into yourself. Other transits that come along and hit that same spot will then bring that process into the light and perhaps give you another perspective on it.

With Uranus, Neptune and Pluto it can take a while to fully understand the changes that they’ve brought. So once they move out of orb, the pressure may be off but changes could still be happening. But as you say, it really depends on the consciousness you bring to the process.
