October begins in Libra season when we seek balance and harmony with others and refine our perceptions through an appreciation of beauty. We also seek to create justice and fairness through equitable sharing and making reasonable judgements and choices. More on the meaning of Libra here: Libra Myths
However this October really belongs to Scorpio because that’s where all the action is…

The month begins with the Sun in Libra, Mercury and Venus in Scorpio, and Mars in Leo. Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, and Chiron are retrograde, and Venus joins them at the start of the month, and Mercury near the end of the month, while Pluto goes direct mid-month. The Sun enters Scorpio the day before Mercury goes retrograde, and Venus retrograde returns to Libra in the final week.
On 3rd October Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio conjunct Mercury and square Mars opposite Pluto in a T-square. Mercury also opposes Chiron square Mars and Pluto making a Grand Cross. Venus also trines the Moon in Cancer but that’s in a T-square with the Sun opposite Saturn and Neptune.
This is the moment when the energies of Venus turn inward and descend into the underworld in search of renewal. Now is the time to reassess your feelings about your relationships, business partnerships, finances, creative projects, values and feelings of self-worth. And your feelings are likely to be intense – here’s the chart:

It’s an incredibly tense chart with the desire for passionate experiences in relationships pushed to extremes by Pluto and Mars demanding attention, making fights and power struggles highly likely. There could be sudden breakups or reversals in relationships or issues with your finances that trigger primal fears about survival. The pressure to make changes or to act now will be immense and you may need to fight to control yourself and remain calm.
The Sun Saturn opposition encourages you to be responsible and realistic and that may help to moderate some of the extreme emotions that may be flying around. But you could also just feel oppressed and depressed, especially if this moment represents a period of failure or loss for you.
The Mars Pluto opposition goes exact the same day as the station, while the Sun Saturn opposition goes exact the next day. So the tension of this moment won’t diminish once Venus is moving retrograde. The Moon also moves to conjunct Mars in Leo on 5th October, triggering the Grand Cross and Mars Pluto opposition in particular, intensifying feelings and potential conflicts.
There are a lot of harmonious aspects and an air Grand Trine between the Sun, Uranus and Pluto that could provide support and mitigation. Lean into the nurturing kindness of the Moon and remember to count to ten before reacting to anything, especially online.

The New Moon in Libra on 10th October is opposite Saturn and sextile Jupiter. The Grand Cross has dissolved into a T-square with Mars opposite Pluto square Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde. This lunation highlights your need for harmony and balance in your life, supported by an optimistic and hopeful Jupiter. The Sun Saturn opposition is separating and the Mars Pluto opposition is starting to fade out so the pressure may start to ease allowing you to recover and make a new beginning.

The Jupiter Chiron trine has entered orb and will go exact in December, encouraging you to find wisdom in your old wounds and let go of painful memories and anything that’s stopping you from growing.
The Saturn Neptune conjunction also returns to a wide orb from 14th October but the aspect doesn’t get close. If these planets contact your chart directly you may want to revisit the new projects and situations that began during the exact aspect in February to see how they’re going.
On 24th October the inferior conjunction of the Sun and Venus retrograde goes exact while square Pluto and opposite Chiron in a T-square. This is a good moment to explore how you feel about the Scorpio area of your chart based on what you’ve experienced so far during the retrograde. You may want to gather inspiration, plant seeds and make intentions for any changes you want to make when Venus stations direct next month.
The Venus Chiron opposition increases your sensitivity to past wounds and the suffering of others, and current events could mirror old experiences and reveal new perspectives that encourage you to heal and move on. The square from Pluto intensifies your feelings so this may be a painful moment of realisation, but you can also find healing in your relationships and finances if you’re willing to change.
On the same day Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio square Mars and Jupiter and the nodes. This is the moment the energies of Mercury turn inwards and the mind slows down so you can rethink how you relate to the Scorpio part of your chart. This transit reinforces your experience of Venus retrograde, although the two planets don’t meet up and Venus returns to Libra the day after Mercury stations.
But you may want to revisit any issues or ideas that came up during the Mercury Venus conjunction on 7th October just after Venus stationed retrograde. This might give you some clues about what you need to change or rethink in this area of your life.

On 26th October the Full Moon in Taurus is conjunct Chiron in Aries opposite the Sun in Scorpio conjunct Venus retrograde in Libra and all in a T-square with Pluto. This lunation highlights the conflict between your need for inner stability and your desire for emotional transformation and intense experiences. The Moon is besieged by extreme emotions and potential conflicts that could erupt into power struggles and fights.

This isn’t helped by Mercury retrograde square Jupiter which could make you too sure of yourself and hidden agendas could easily explode into arguments and harsh words. But you can also choose to transform your mind and emotions and deepen the intimacy of your relationships without picking fights. Venus being back in Libra will help to smooth things over and her sextile to Jupiter is also supportive.
Meanwhile, the Mars Jupiter conjunction is now in orb and goes exact next month. This transit boosts your energy levels and feelings of optimism which may help to overcome any difficulties that come up over the coming weeks. However, you may need to be careful not to become too self-confident, especially during the retrogrades as your emotions may not be as clear as you think. Wait until early November when the tension eases before doing anything important.
