When Pluto transits natal Uranus your need for transformation and power influences your desire for independence and freedom. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits natal Uranus it brings intensity and evolution to how you relate to society and express your individuality with authenticity, as well as how you embrace change and the need for freedom from the past. This is a generational transit that affects whole groups of people at the same time but you’ll also experience it on a personal level based on the placement of your natal Uranus.
These transits can be highly unpredictable so it’s hard to say exactly what to expect but they always bring change on some level. This can range from subtle tweaks that energise and inspire you to radical shifts in direction that can be explosive and shocking.
You can use this transit to break free of anything that’s stifling growth or holding you back, like bad habits, inner doubts and fears, patterns of behaviour that have become too rigid or predictable, or situations and structures that no longer serve the way your soul wants to grow. You can free yourself from the past and may discover new ideas or interests that transform your view of reality, especially anything Uranian such as technology, science, metaphysics, astrology, political philosophy and social activism.
The sextile and trine should make it easier to change your life without causing too much disruption. But the hard aspects (conjunction, square or opposition) may be more challenging and you could be forced to change by events outside of your control. Or your desire for change could become compulsive, driving you to break free at whatever the cost.
You may overthrow previously good structures, walk out of a job or marriage, sell up and leave the country on a whim, and so on. You may feel rebellious and angry and want to fight against the structures you feel are holding you back and could go to extreme lengths in your pursuit of freedom. You could also become fanatical in your political beliefs and get drawn into revolutionary movements fighting for social change.
You may also resist making changes to your life but this could provoke extreme reactions if you dig your heels in too much, especially if you avoid necessary change. However, sometimes you may need to resist change that someone is trying to force on you that isn’t right. You may need to stand up for yourself or fight for your right to live the way you need to.
The idea is to become more free as an individual so you can express yourself with greater authenticity. You could discover new talents and potentials that you could develop, new ambitions to pursue, new ways of seeing yourself or expressing yourself, different kinds of relationships or work. Almost anything is possible!

My Notes:
I was born just as the Uranus Pluto conjunction of the late-60s was separating so Pluto transited conjunct my natal Uranus in 1974-75, from age 4 to 5, when Pluto was in Libra in my 8th house. This coincided with when I was at nursery school and presumably learning about how to get along with other babies in society. Something probably happened but it’s too early for me to remember!
Pluto transited sextile my natal Uranus in 1998-99, from age 27 to 29, when Pluto was in Sagittarius in my 10th house and also conjunct my Midheaven at the same time. This coincided with when I was working at a project studio recording local bands. But there wasn’t enough work so I started training in skills to help me get a job. I didn’t feel particularly free because I had to give up my dream but I did learn lots of new skills, mostly involving computers and technology.
Pluto transited square my natal Uranus in 2011-12, from age 40 to 42, when Pluto was in Capricorn in my 11th house. This coincided with a period of forced change coming from outside but deep down I really needed it. At the start of the transit I lost my job and ended up on the dole while looking for a new job. My health was also disintegrating and I was dealing with death threats from a psychotic neighbour.
The job search didn’t go well so halfway through the transit I was put on the so-called Work Programme, a scheme that was supposed to support me back to work. I used the time to finish writing my first novel and concentrate on healing. By the end of the transit the psycho neighbour had moved out and my health started to improve.
I also decided to go self-employed because there were no jobs. At the time, it felt like my only option and the Work Programme practically bounced me into it, desperate to get me signed off to make their numbers look good (and get their payout). I had no prospect of making any money – it was a blind leap of faith.
Pluto will trine my natal Uranus in 2027-29, from age 56 to 58, when Pluto is in Aquarius in my 12th house. This is an approaching transit and is part of the mini triangle configuration. More on Pluto Uranus transits here.
