Pluto Transits to Jupiter

When Pluto transits natal Jupiter your need for transformation and power influences your need for self-improvement and deeper meaning in life. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits natal Jupiter it brings intensity and evolution to your beliefs about reality and how you find meaning in your life, as well as your desire to improve yourself and expand your horizons. This transit may boost your confidence and optimism in the future which encourages you to make your dreams come true and you could achieve success in goals you’ve been working towards for a while.

But you may also change your mind about what you want to achieve as your view of the future changes. You may need to rethink how your life is unfolding, either due to events or because your feelings about what you want have shifted. Dreams or goals that you’ve been moving towards may suddenly crumble or become unworkable, or you may lose interest in them and decide to change direction.

You may become interested in exploring the meaning of your life more deeply or discover new ideas that make you see reality in a different way. You could have a spiritual breakthrough or awakening or go deeper than usual into your beliefs, and could develop a profound philosophical understanding that transforms your life.

Hard aspects to Jupiter (conjunction, square or opposition) may be more challenging and you could become obsessed with a new belief system, or go to extremes in your practices, or become a zealous convert and push your beliefs onto others. This applies whether your beliefs are spiritual or worldly, such as political activism.

You could also become disillusioned with your beliefs or religion, or experience a crisis of faith as events force you to question the meaning of your life. You may need to go through a period of confusion and doubt and this could bring up extreme emotions and old wounds that need healing. By the end of the transit you may find new beliefs, or a renewal of faith or sense of meaning that’s more authentic and true to your soul.

You could also have transformative experiences while travelling or as a result of encountering people from other cultures even if you don’t leave home. Travel may open your mind to a wider reality that changes your view of yourself and what you want from life. You may want to relocate to live abroad, or be forced to migrate due to events beyond your control.

At its worst, this transit can get extremely dark so if you’re prone to depression or have unhealed trauma you may need to take extra care of yourself. This is especially important if Pluto drags you into the underworld violently to force a transformation. If so, seek help. You may have to wait in the dark for a while before the light returns but the dawn always comes – eventually.

Possibilities with Pluto transiting Jupiter:
  • Discovering a new philosophy of life
  • Spiritual awakening
  • Renewal of faith
  • Deepening your understanding of the world
  • Increased self-belief and hope for the future
  • Transformative experiences while travelling
Watch out for:
  • Confusion and loss of direction in life
  • Dodgy spiritual teachers and gurus
  • A crisis of faith or dark night of the soul
  • Raging at God and life
  • Hopelessness and suicide (please don’t!)
  • Dangerous experiences while travelling
My Notes:

Pluto transited conjunct my natal Jupiter in 1984-85, from age 13 to 15, when Pluto was in Scorpio in my 8th house. This coincided with when I was at high school and doing lots of music – mainly playing the flute with the Brighton Junior Youth Orchestra. During the summer holidays the orchestra went on tour to play concerts and have enriching cultural encounters with the locals.

In 1984 we visited Germany where me and another girl (percussionist) stayed on a beautiful farm with several generations of the family, including the grandma who spoke no English. She kept saying stuff to us in German and then cackling – I assume it was about the war! I ate lots of sausages and got blind drunk on German beer and chatted up by a skinhead called Gerald while discussing corporal punishment at his school. 😂

The following year we toured Belgium and Holland. In Amsterdam all the concerts were outdoors and it rained the entire time. So with nothing better to do, we went to the pub and got drunk and I tried to play darts and only managed to hit the board once. Neptune was also sextile my Jupiter at the same time so that’s my excuse!

Pluto transited sextile my natal Jupiter in 2009-10, from age 38 to 40, when Pluto was in Capricorn in my 11th house. This started well but then turned dark thanks to other transits. It coincided with when I was working at a talking newspaper and writing screenplays in my spare time, sending them out to production companies and feeling hopeful.

Halfway through the transit I reduced my hours at work so I’d have more time to write (so naïve!). But then things started to unravel due to events beyond my control, including death threats from a neighbour and then the loss of my job and the start of my battle with auto-immune issues in my health.

The main culprits for this were: Saturn transiting my 8th house, Neptune and Chiron both transiting opposite Mars, Uranus transiting opposite Pluto, and progressed Venus opposite natal Saturn.

Pluto is transiting square my natal Jupiter in 2024-26, from age 53 to 55, while Pluto is in Aquarius in my 12th house. This is a current transit and it started extremely badly and may or may not be getting better as it approaches its end – it’s hard to tell because I’m still in the dark. It coincided with my life going up in flames – a combination of health issues due to self-neglect and insane levels of anti-social noise from my neighbours.

The noise got so bad at times that the whole building shook and it often went on for hours and through the night. Multiple complaints to the housing association had no effect. It felt like purgatory, like I’d been abducted and dropped into the wrong life and abandoned. I was deranged from lack of sleep and struggling to cope.

The intense pressure forced me to stop and face what I’d been running from for years: my unfinished dark night and death wish. I’m still working on that, while the noise continues on and off. Maybe I’ll write about it at some point. The transit will fade out through 2026 as Pluto moves away from 2° Aquarius, so maybe then I’ll be able to process what’s been happening…
