Uranus Transits to Venus

When Uranus transits natal Venus your need for freedom and change influences your values, relationships and finances. Uranus speeds things up and disrupts old patterns and represents your need for independence and change in this area.

When Uranus transits natal Venus you may experience surprises and disruption to your relationships, finances and values, as well as what you find beautiful and how you express your creativity. You can find more freedom within your relationships and redefine the things you love and what matters to you and discover new sides of yourself through the people you meet.

You may feel bored or frustrated with your current relationship and want more excitement or space to be yourself. You could start a new relationship that makes you feel more alive, although it may not last long. Or you could energise your current relationship by trying a different approach.

With the hard aspects (conjunction, square and opposition), you may act in extreme ways in an attempt to break free, or stubbornly resist change which causes more problems. But Uranus can also give you a more objective view of your feelings which you can use to find constructive solutions.

Your finances could be changeable and you may need to develop greater flexibility towards money and financial security. You may need to examine your values to ensure that your relationships and finances don’t compromise the things you care about. You could also explore your creative side and find new ways to express yourself with greater authenticity.

Possibilities with Uranus transiting Venus:
  • Rejuvenating your relationship
  • Starting an exciting new relationship
  • Breaking free of a limiting relationship
  • An inspiring new way to earn money
  • New creative ideas
Watch out for:
  • Sudden relationship breakups
  • Making unreasonable demands on a partner
  • On again, off again relationship
  • A destructive affair
  • Sudden changes to your finances
My notes:

Uranus transited sextile my natal Venus in 1986-87 from age 15–17 when Uranus was in Sagittarius in my 10th house. This coincided with when I did my O Levels at school and then started at sixth form while spending all my free time doing music. At some point I played the Royal Albert Hall in London with the East Sussex Youth Concert Band which was great fun, and I also started playing the saxophone and got my Grade 8 flute with distinction.

There was disruption to my relationships when my first boyfriend dumped me, although I wasn’t too upset – more hurt pride than anything else. A few months later I met somebody new, at the Guildhall Summer School in London, who was seven years older than me and had a car! He lived near Manchester and we started a long-distance relationship.

Uranus transited square my natal Venus in 1993-94 from age 22–24 when Uranus was in Capricorn in my 12th house. This was when I was living alone in a damp and mouldy basement and feeling depressed and fed up with the decay of my life, both inner and outer. I was processing the issues that had come up while Saturn was transiting my 12th house a few years earlier and feeling reclusive.

But then I started a counselling training course and worked with people who had addiction issues. This gave me a different perspective and revealed that I was stronger than I thought I was. So I decided to return to college to follow my dream of becoming a sound engineer and started on the music production course as this transit came to an end. Uranus was also trine natal Saturn at the same time.

Uranus transited trine my natal Venus in 2001-02 from age 30–32 when Uranus was in Aquarius in my 1st house. This coincided with when I started working for a local council after a short period of unemployment and my savings were about to run out. The job appeared in the nick of time and although I hated it, another one came up within months – amazingly for a sound engineer recording a talking newspaper.

This wasn’t exactly my dream job but it was a good compromise and good enough for paying the bills. Uranus was also square Saturn at the same time, creating a new structure and giving my life some stability at last.

Uranus transited opposite my natal Venus in 2016-17 from age 45–46 when Uranus was in Aries in my 2nd house. This coincided with when I was recovering from a bad health flare up that had made me quite ill (part of my early menopause a couple of years earlier). My energy was slowly improving but my mood was subdued since Pluto had entered my 12th house in 2014 casting shade over everything else.

I was doing lots of writing and sending The Shining Ones out to agents and getting loads of rejections while also working on the Free Your Pen book. But I was losing faith in writing and by the end of 2016 had given up the dream of getting published. I was feeling burnt out and dispirited but managed to finish Free Your Pen and self-published it as this transit came to an end.

I also remember reading more about gnosticism and other esoteric and mystical matters (Venus is in my 8th house) as my inner reality crumpled into a dark night of the soul thanks to Pluto in the 12th and progressed Mars conjunct natal Pluto.

  1. Transiting Uranus has retrograded back to my 28 Taurus Venus. Suddenly teaching art came to an end (much to my relief) and a painting which has been nudging me inwardly to paint it which I did and it was UNUSUAL. I hung it on my wall and was inwardly told that all paintings this size from now on, will be $400. It sold within days and I miss it and will definitely paint it again just for me. I have not been able to paint since 2018 when I started teaching. Uranus freed me. In my chart, Uranus conjuncts Venus and squares my Mars.

  2. My most recent transit Uranus square natal Venus was fascinating. At the first exact square, I broke up with my boyfriend at the time because I felt the romantic relationship was not going to move forward. It was painful because we had a solid friendship. I spent the duration of the transit transforming this connection into a solid, enduring friendship with this person. Then I got suddenly involved with a person who had Uranus on the ascendant. This relationship was not one I would normally choose; it was very different and I still feel uncomfortable thinking back on it. I spent most of that brief relationship feeling restless, confined, with the desire to get out of it. At the final exact square of Uranus, I broke it off. There was freedom in letting go, and there was freedom to let go rather than drag on and on. I no longer needed a relationship; the obsessive urge to seek outside of myself lifted up and away, and I anchored into my own inner partner. Two weeks after letting go of the short term relationship, I met my current partner without even trying, the connection was immediate, and this relationship is still ongoing after years. The suddenness of all of this still amazes me.
