The Astrology of 2025

Congratulations for making it to the end of 2024! I hope you’re ready for 2025 because it’s going to be spectacular. There’s so much astrology going on I hardly know where to start! We’ve finally reached the moment when everything shifts but the process takes two years as there’s still some toggling to be done.

You can get full details in Astro Journal 2025 – available at Amazon and in my Payhip store – but in this post we’ll focus on the highlights of the year. Here are the main events for 2025:

  • Pluto in Aquarius
  • Neptune in Pisces – ending!
  • Uranus in Taurus – ending!
  • Saturn in Pisces – ending!
  • Jupiter in Gemini
  • Moon Nodes enter Pisces/Virgo – January
  • Mars stations direct in Cancer – February
  • Venus stations retrograde in Aries – March
  • Neptune enters Aries – March
  • Saturn sextile Uranus – April and August
  • Saturn enters Aries – May
  • Jupiter sextile Chiron – May
  • Jupiter enters Cancer – June
  • Jupiter square Saturn – June
  • Jupiter square Neptune – June
  • Uranus enters Gemini – July
  • Saturn conjunct Neptune – July
  • Neptune sextile Pluto – August/September
  • Uranus trine Pluto – August/September
  • Uranus sextile Neptune – August and November
  • Jupiter square Chiron – October and December

Pluto is now in Aquarius for good and this year Neptune enters Aries and Uranus enters Gemini briefly. But the year starts with the nodes changing signs and crossing 0° Aries. This marks the moment of major lunar standstill, although the moon doesn’t reach its highest position until March 2025. You can read more about this event here.

Mars finally stations direct in February which could bring some surprises or reversals in events. There could be more surprises in March when Venus and Mercury go retrograde in Aries back into Pisces. They stay close for weeks and cross paths with Neptune going from Pisces into Aries just after a solar eclipse in Aries. So the end of March and early April could be eventful and unpredictable.

But you can use this time to make necessary changes in your life and get ready for the summer. This is when the speed of events will increase once Saturn has joined Neptune in Aries and Uranus has entered Gemini. The Saturn Neptune conjunction gets incredibly close in July but then backtracks into Pisces so don’t be surprised if your new beginnings get delayed or need to be reconsidered.

While all this excitement is going on Jupiter slips into his exultation in Cancer and gives everyone a much-needed hug and encourages us to be kind. This positive reinforcement of your feelings should help you to deal with whatever else is going on in your life during these momentous times.

Here’s an overview of the specifics for 2025:

Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto entered Aquarius for good on 19th November 2024 and stays until 2044. This transit is about transforming the rules and norms of society and the systems that we live within that are shaped by our ideas about humanity. It will also transform how we use science and technology to manifest those ideas. How you participate in this social and technological revolution will depend on the house occupied by Aquarius in your chart.

Neptune in Aries

Neptune enters Aries on 30th March 2025 and stays until 22nd October 2025 before returning to Aries for good on 26th January 2026 until 2039. This transit will inspire many new beginnings in spirituality, creativity, art and politics that may be idealistic and imaginative. This will manifest through the Aries part of your chart where you can create a new vision for your life and you may experience a spiritual renewal or an opportunity to discover who you really are as an individual.

There could be breakthroughs in these areas and this will manifest through the Gemini part of your chart where you may receive surprising insights into yourself and reality.

Main Alignments

There are many helpful and some challenging alignments this year, including the mini triangle configuration between Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. One of these aspects becomes exact in 2025 but the others are exact by degree and the first major alignment of the triangle happens in August and September. More here: Outer Planets Triangle posts

Uranus sextile Neptune

The Uranus Neptune sextile remains in orb all year and forms two exact alignments on 29th August and 20th November 2025, with more coming in 2026 and 2027. This aspect represents a period of disruption and transformation of the visions and ideals that underpin culture. You can discover new perspectives that liberate you from oppressive structures and reconnect with your true nature to contribute to an inspiring cultural and spiritual renaissance.

More on the Uranus Neptune cycle here.

Saturn sextile Uranus

The Saturn Uranus sextile follows the square of 2021–22 and forms two exact alignments on 4th April and 12th August 2025, with its final aspect on 20th January 2026. This aspect encourages you to make constructive changes that free you from limiting situations and beliefs and reform the structures of your life. You can find solutions to old problems and turn your inspiration into something real, although it’s a sextile so you’ll have to make an effort to get the best out of it.

More on the Saturn Uranus cycle here.

Saturn conjunct Neptune

The Saturn Neptune conjunction is the start of a new cycle and the exact alignment happens on 20th February 2026. But the planets get to within 12 minutes of exact on 15th July 2025 and remain close from March into 2026. This aspect will test your beliefs about reality and challenge you to balance your need for structure with your need for transcendence. It will manifest through the Aries part of your chart where you can create a new beginning but you might have to go through some kind of disillusionment or disappointment first.

More on the Saturn Neptune cycle here – and more coming soon…

Jupiter sextile Chiron

The Jupiter Chiron sextile formed two exact alignments last year and finishes this year with its final aspect on 18th May 2025. This aspect represents an opportunity to heal by bringing awareness to your wounds so you can let them go. Jupiter allows you to put the pain of the past into a larger perspective, but because it’s a sextile you’ll have to make an effort to achieve this.

Jupiter square Saturn

The Jupiter Saturn square formed two exact alignments last year and finishes this year with its final aspect on 15th June 2025. This aspect represents a conflict between growth and limitation and provides the opportunity to rethink anything in your life that isn’t working. It encourages you to take a realistic approach towards building the future by taking practical steps to improve your life and develop greater faith in yourself.

Jupiter square Neptune

The Jupiter Neptune square forms one exact alignment on 19th June 2025. This aspect represents a conflict between growth and transcendence that expands your imagination in ways that may be inspiring but also misleading. It’s a good time for spiritual practices and helping those who are suffering but you may need to doublecheck your visions and intuitions against reality.

Jupiter square Chiron

The Jupiter Chiron square forms two exact alignments this year on 23rd October and 21st December 2025, with its final aspect in July next year. This aspect represents a conflict between your need for growth and healing and could bring old wounds back into your awareness. It challenges you to do something about your wounds by engaging with the healing process or helping others by sharing your wisdom.

Moon Nodes in 2025

This year the eclipse cycle moves from the Aries/Libra axis to the Pisces/Virgo axis with the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo. This cycle begins on 11th January 2025 and runs until 27th July 2026 when the true north node enters Aquarius. There’s one final partial eclipse from the previous cycle although the nodes have already moved by then. Here are the dates for the eclipses for 2025:

  • Total Lunar Eclipse at 23° Virgo on 14th March 2025
  • Partial Solar Eclipse at 9° Aries on 29th March 2025
  • Total Lunar Eclipse at 15° Pisces on 7th September 2025
  • Partial Solar Eclipse at 29° Virgo on 21st September 2025

The north node in Pisces increases your focus on spirituality, compassion and imagination but also the potential for deception and confusion. The south node in Virgo decreases your focus on attention to detail and the need for order which may trigger health issues due to anxiety. To work with these energies constructively look for patterns across the Pisces/Virgo axis in your chart for where you need to surrender control and learn to develop greater faith.

This represents an opportunity to practice compassion and self-acceptance and explore your intuition and creative potential. But you also need to stay in touch with the Virgo talent for discernment and practicality without getting too caught up in the details. Allow your intuition to guide your daily habits and routines and remember that you don’t have to be perfect!

You may find the house axis is more relevant to your experience than the signs. Check your chart to see if any of the eclipses activate important points in your horoscope.

Retrogrades in 2025

The year starts with Mars retrograde in Leo and he goes back into Cancer on 6th January 2025. Mars remains opposite Pluto until 22nd January but the aspect will return when Mars is moving direct again after he stations in February. Here are the dates for your diary:

  • 5 October 2024: entered retrograde shadow at 17° Cancer
  • 6 December 2024: stationed retrograde at 6° Leo
  • 16 January 2025: Sun opposite Mars at 26° Capricorn/Cancer
  • 24 February 2025: stations direct at 17° Cancer
  • 2 May 2025: leaves retrograde shadow at 6° Leo

When Mars stationed retrograde you may have noticed a drop in energy or confusion about your goals. This is because the energy of Mars has turned inwards so you can reassess your goals and how you take action to achieve your desires. Now is the time to assess how you’re getting on with various projects and initiatives and make necessary changes.

This year Venus goes retrograde in Aries and Pisces and the entire cycle lasts from January 2025 to January 2026. These periods provide an opportunity to reassess your relationships, business partnerships, finances, creative projects, and values. Venus last went retrograde in Aries/Pisces in 2017 so check what you were doing then to see what might come up this time. Here are the dates for your diary:

  • 28 January 2025: enters retrograde shadow at 24° Pisces
  • 2 March 2025: stations retrograde at 10° Aries
  • 23 March 2025: inferior conjunction with Sun at 2° Aries
  • 13 April 2025: stations direct at 24° Pisces
  • 16 May 2025: leaves retrograde shadow at 10° Aries
  • 6 January 2026: superior conjunction with Sun at 16° Capricorn

When Venus stations retrograde your feelings about the people and things that you value may change so you can get back in touch with your deeper instincts. Now is the time to assess your relationships and values to see if you’re living in harmony with your deepest soul values.

Make the most of this time using the Venus Retrograde Workbook available here!

Finally, this year Mercury goes retrograde in mostly fire signs which represent good times to rethink your ideas about the future and how you channel inspiration, creativity and intuition. You can explore new directions for your life and challenge yourself to take the initiative and break old habits.

  1. Let’s all hang on to Jupiter in Cancer this year 😅😅

Boy, I’m so excited to be an astrologer in this decade. These transits are sooo good…

Looking at the world though, I can also imagine that the trines & sextiles between the outers will support a massive global conflict that defines our century.

What will Neptune-Saturn at 0 Aries bring? War or the Messiah? Often the new only arrives with a destruction of the old.

Thank you for the overview, great write up!
