Saturn in Pisces through the Houses

Saturn entered Pisces on 7th March 2023 and will stay there, more or less, until early 2026 when he goes into Aries. This will be a period of taking a realistic and practical approach to all things Piscean and in this post, we’ll explore how that might work in each house of the birth chart.

Saturn represents the principle of reality and structure and is associated with limitations, boundaries, organisation and control, as well as authority, responsibility, discipline, patience, mastery and karma. By transit Saturn delays and slows things down, limits possibilities and forces you to take life seriously. He reality checks what you’re doing and may stir up fears and doubts, but he also deepens your experience and helps to give form to whatever you need to do. (More Saturn Keywords)

In Pisces, Saturn brings your attention to your dreams, imagination, creativity, spiritual practice, and the interconnectivity of all life. Pisces is where you can tap into your intuition and compassion and bring healing to others, and/or escape through drugs and alcohol or anything that dissolves the boundaries of the self. At best, you can learn to surrender and go with the flow and have faith in life. (More Pisces Keywords)

Saturn isn’t at home in Pisces so this transit can bring problems with boundaries, confusion, loss of control, and disturbed dreams. But it’s also a great opportunity for making real progress with creative work and spiritual practice, giving you the discipline and patience to manifest your dreams.

All of this will play out in the house occupied by Pisces in your chart. The houses represent specific areas of life or fields of experience through which the planets express themselves in a style coloured by the sign in that house. So the planets show what happens, the sign shows how it happens, and the house shows where it happens.

How you deal with this transit depends on how you relate to your natal Saturn and whether you’re willing to take responsibility and do the work required. You may also want to look at the planets that rule Pisces in your chart. Your natal Jupiter and Neptune placements and the aspects they form will either help or hinder Saturn on his journey. This is especially so if they aspect any planets that Saturn will transit while he’s in Pisces.

Saturn will form conjunctions to any natal planets that you have in Pisces, and will oppose planets in Virgo, and square planets in Gemini and Sagittarius. He will sextile planets in Taurus and Capricorn, and trine planets in Cancer and Scorpio.

Pisces – 1st House

With Pisces on the Ascendent or in the first house your body, appearance, health, self and overall approach to life is Piscean. Your identity needs to include an awareness of the unity of life and transcendence of the self which you may express through music, film, photography, and other creative arts, and spirituality. You take an intuitive approach to life that can adapt and flow with changes, but can also lose direction and become lost in your dreams.

You’re compassionate and self-sacrificing but may also have weak boundaries and feel oversensitive to everything that goes on around you. This could make your identity feel confused or elusive, or appear that way to others, and you may be disorganised, evasive and prone to escapism.

Saturn will encourage you to take a more realistic view of yourself and how you approach life. You can learn to be more organised and practical without losing touch with your imagination and sensitivity. If you have health problems or difficulties with drugs or alcohol, now is a good time to tackle those issues and build a stronger body through hard work. You can also apply your visionary imagination to find new goals and ambitions to work towards and put your creative ideas into practical form.

Pisces – 2nd House

With Pisces in the second house your values, self-worth, and relationship to money, possessions and resources are Piscean. You value compassion, imagination, sensitivity, spirituality, music, film, the arts, and creativity, and you may earn money in these areas. Look at the natal positions of Jupiter and Neptune for that too.

You can trust your intuition over finding the money and resources you need and develop faith based on the security that comes from spiritual awareness. However, money may also flow in and out of your life and you may feel vague and confused about how to deal with it. You may give too much away, perhaps giving to charity and using your resources to help others.

Saturn will encourage you to take a more realistic approach to money and resources and work hard to bring stability to this area of your life. You may be forced to pay attention to the details and stop being so vague or avoiding difficult decisions. With a bit of effort and hard work you can earn money in a Piscean profession or put your creative ideas into practical form. You can build a stronger sense of self-worth by tapping into your sensitivity and imagination and putting them to work.

Pisces – 3rd House

With Pisces in the third house your thinking and communication are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards siblings, neighbours, short distance travel and transport, writing, media and the internet. Your thinking tends to be more intuitive than rational and you may find it easier to communicate your sensitivity and compassion through music, art, poetry, film, dance, and creative writing.

Your mind is highly imaginative and your thinking flows based on feelings and moods, making you open to synchronicities and mysticism. But you may also get overwhelmed by too many connections, losing sight of the details and becoming muddled and confused. You could also become lost in fantasy or unrealistic delusions, and mislead others, whether intentionally or not.

Saturn will encourage you to take a more realistic and practical approach to how you think and communicate. Your mind may slow down and become more serious, and this could bring doubts to the surface, making communication more difficult. Your intuition will be tested and you may need to guard against depression and negative thinking. But this is a good time to develop a disciplined spiritual practice or study a subject in depth and put your thoughts into writing or some other creative form.

Pisces – 4th House

With Pisces in the fourth house your home and family and private life are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards parents, ancestors, roots, and any real estate that you may own. Your home may be filled with art and music and spirituality, or you may live close to the sea or a body of water. You can express your sensitivity and compassion most easily at home and you may see it as a place of retreat from the world where you can provide healing for your family.

Since Pisces is the foundation of your life, you may find security and stability hard to pin down. Your security lies in connecting with faith and the unity of life. You may also struggle to define yourself as separate from your family and could be sensitive to undercurrents in the home and have family issues with addiction or escapism.

Saturn will encourage you to take a practical and realistic approach to your home and family life. You may wish to put down roots by finding a new home and you can build a strong foundation for your life but it must be based on Piscean principles of imagination and compassion. You may also need to confront family karma so that you can accept the past.

Pisces – 5th House

With Pisces in the fifth house your children and need for creativity and self-expression are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards romance, hobbies, entertainment, sports, and gambling. You have a great love of the arts and may be highly creative, pouring your visions into music, film, photography, and writing poetry or fiction. You may also enjoy water sports, swimming and fishing, and coming up with imaginative ways to have fun.

Your children may be Piscean, with strong creative or spiritual traits, or they may struggle with addiction. You may make sacrifices on their behalf, driven by compassion and idealism. This idealism may also influence your view of romance, with a tendency to lose yourself in dreams of an ideal lover. This could create confusion and deception and you may use romance to escape the world, perhaps lubricated by alcohol.

Saturn will encourage you to take a practical and realistic approach to your children and creative projects. You may find it harder to have fun and there could be greater responsibilities with your children. You may also feel blocked creatively but if you can overcome your fears, you could do some excellent creative work as Saturn helps to ground your ideas into form. Be careful of gambling as Saturn could bring reality checks and losses.

Pisces – 6th House

With Pisces in the sixth house your daily routines, work or job, and health issues are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards colleagues and employees, pets, and service. You have an imaginative and compassionate approach to work and like to go with the flow in your daily routine, driven by feelings and intuition. You may work in the arts or creative industries, or with water, or in healing or spiritual circles, and may like to rescue animals and people.

Your idealism and openness to the unity of life could mean you lose track of your daily chores, becoming disorganised and overwhelmed by details and confused about what needs to be done. This could also create injuries and health problems with the feet, drugs and sensitivities, addictions, and psychosomatic illnesses that have an emotional root and are hard to diagnose.

Saturn will encourage you to take a practical and realistic approach to your daily routines, work and health issues. You may be forced to slow down and get organised so you can do the work that needs to be done, and you may be able to learn new skills. Health problems could force you to take steps to find healing and become more grounded in your body – these may be related to any natal placements you have in the 6th house.

Pisces – 7th House

With Pisces in the seventh house your attitude towards long-term relationships and partners is Piscean, including business partnerships, therapists, consultants, lawyers, and open enemies. You express your sensitivity, compassion, and imagination through your close relationships and may form partnerships with Pisceans or people who embody those qualities. Your partner may also work in a Piscean area like the creative industries, spirituality, charity, and helping others, or with water.

You take an intuitive approach towards your relationships and may tend to idealise your partner, seeking total union with your beloved or soul mate. You may lack boundaries and could be oversensitive, or become entangled with people who take advantage or deceive you. Your partner could struggle with alcohol or addiction, or be disorganised and a bit lost.

Saturn will encourage you to take a more realistic approach to your relationships and you may feel emotionally cut off or distant for a little while. Your relationships will be tested in a reality check to ensure that you’re not escaping into an idealised fantasy or unrealistic romance or being co-dependent. This could mean the end of a relationship that fails the test, but you can also make a stronger commitment to partnerships that are based on reality.

Pisces – 8th House

With Pisces in the eighth house your attitude towards shared resources and other people’s money is Piscean, as well as inheritance, taxes, debts and loans, power, the mysteries of life and death, and psychology. You may express your sensitivity, compassion, and imagination by using mediumship and psychic powers to commune with life. You may take a spiritual approach to sex, as you merge with others and transcend boundaries.

Your sexual identity may be changeable or confusing, or you may enhance your sex life with music, drugs and alcohol, or use sex to escape from reality. You may also try to avoid dealing with the whole area of taxes and shared resources, preferring to go with the flow and hope for the best. But you could become confused over what is owed to you and what you owe to others.

Saturn will encourage you to take a practical and realistic approach to shared resources so you can make your finances more secure. Difficulties with debt may force you to get organised and be clear about what you’re doing. Limitations and frustrations in your sex life could also encourage a rethink as you confront the consequences of the past. You may need to spend some time dredging shadow material from the depths of your psyche so it can be transformed and released.

Pisces – 9th House

With Pisces in the ninth house your need for meaning is Piscean, including religion, philosophy, travel, higher education, teaching, and publishing. You express your sensitivity and intuitive understanding through a philosophy of life that centres on love and compassion. You may have a mystical view of spirituality that sees the truth as transcending boundaries between religions, and be open to spiritual teachings from foreign places.

You may spend time studying Piscean subjects, such as music, arts, film, and religion, or teach or publish in these areas. You can search for meaning by trusting your intuition and going with the flow, or may be confused about your beliefs. You could have transcendent experiences while travelling abroad, but may also use travel to escape or end up getting lost.

Saturn will encourage you to be more realistic in how you define what you believe and what life means to you. Your belief system needs to embody Piscean principles of compassion and the unity of life but it also needs to be practical. You may be able to bring your visionary imagination down to earth and put it into form, perhaps by sharing your experiences through teaching or publishing. But you may also feel cut off from your connection to the universe and this could trigger the questioning of your faith.

Pisces – 10th House

With Pisces in the tenth house your career, status and reputation, public life, and vocation are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards authority figures and employers. Your career or vocation could involve the arts, music, film, and imagination, as well as spirituality, water and the ocean. Others may see you as sensitive, compassionate, kind and creative, but also disorganised, unrealistic and hard to pin down.

You may also be confused about your career or have idealistic expectations of what may be possible, as well as an idealistic view of authority figures. A tendency for escapism or struggles with addiction could cause problems with employers or a loss of recognition or status. You could also be deluded about your reputation, either over or underestimating your influence on others.

Saturn will encourage you to take a practical and realistic approach towards your career and vocation, as well as employers and authority figures in general. Your career and ambitions will be tested and you may need to re-evaluate what success means to you. Now is the time to work hard to define what you really want to achieve. You may achieve success if you’ve prepared well, especially in Piscean areas, but also in relation to the natal positions of Jupiter and Neptune in your chart.

Pisces – 11th House

With Pisces in the eleventh house your friends, acquaintances, and social networks, and hopes and aspirations are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards groups, community and society, and collective action. You can share your sensitivity, compassion and imagination with friends and may belong to groups involved in Piscean activities, such as meditation, writing or creativity, film or book clubs, support groups, and Alcoholics Anonymous. You may also just enjoy getting drunk with your mates down the pub.

You have an idealistic view of humanity and may share a utopian vision of the future with the groups that you’re involved with. This may leave you open to manipulation and you could be naïve or easily deceived because you want to believe the best of people. You’re sensitive to the feelings and undercurrents in groups and could lose yourself due to a lack of clear boundaries.

Saturn will encourage you to take a realistic and practical approach to friendships and group interactions. Your friendships will undergo a reality check and you may choose to only keep the real friends and let go of the fair-weather variety. You may need to define yourself more clearly as an individual within groups by developing better boundaries. You could also discover that reality isn’t what you believed and experience some disillusionment with friends or society in general.

Pisces – 12th House

With Pisces in the twelfth house your karma, fate, secrets and unconscious patterns of self-undoing are Piscean, as well as your attitude towards isolation, hospitals, prisons, depth psychology, mysticism, and hidden enemies. Your sensitivity and compassion feed your dream life and imagination that may remain hidden from others. You may be a secret mystic, able to go with the flow and surrender to spiritual reality with a strong faith in life. Or you may share your imaginative gifts with others, perhaps in hospitals or with prisoners.

But you may also feel too sensitive and overwhelmed by the undercurrents of the collective unconscious and prone to escapism and retreat from the world. You may feel confused about what’s real or hide your sensitivity behind a cynical but fragile persona. This could turn you into a secret drinker or drive you into self-destructive behaviour that you don’t fully understand.

Saturn will encourage you to develop a realistic and practical approach to your secret life and hidden motivations. You can learn to trust your intuition and surrender to the flow by having faith in the unity of life. You may need to turn inwards and explore the depths of your psyche so you can dissolve old patterns and structures that no longer serve you. It’s a good time to be disciplined with your meditation practice or creative work.

  1. I am not sure I have Pisces anywhere in my chart…if it’s part of every house arrangement, I will have to find it. I haven’t consulted a birth chart in a long time. I jotted down the planetary basics, and it seems I am rather square, occasionally triangular (with the Saturn talk above). No good connections, I suspect. Typical, and I have no understanding of the details. And, as imaginative as I am…as many dreams as I’ve had and can recall, I’m not the most “fluid.” [I’m mostly fire and hot air. :P And, a lil hot, deep, deep sensual, mind-probing, private water. But, no light Pisces shtuff.]

I worry this “get serious” period will upset my comfort zone. I sense it might have something to do with recent political events, too, bringing certain things to light and changing laws to favor one side or another. But, then, that happens all of the time, it seems. So, this is just flavor A or B of what was the previous phase. Maybe pre-Saturn-Pisces was the Dems’ time, and now is GOP time.

Yet, if recent events say anything, I also wonder if it won’t align a few things and keep negative possibilities from being in the mix. That however doesn’t change my luck in Rocket League, it seems. The game continues to vex me. And, I continue to put up with it like a bad friend.

Am I saying YET, AND and BUT too often? :P

    1. You definitely have Pisces somewhere but probably don’t have any planets there. This transit will still affect you when Saturn transits your natal planets from Pisces to the other signs.
