Last time we explored the history of Saturn in Aries and discovered the usual mix of war and rebellions and people fighting for independence. Saturn will be in Aries from 2025 to 2028 and it will feel very different to the last couple of years. We’re moving away from Saturn in Pisces where the individual was dissolved in the ocean of consciousness and into Aries where the individual comes first.

Saturn enters Aries on 25th May 2025 and only stays for a few months until 1st September when he dips back into Pisces for a final visit. He returns to Aries on 14th February 2026 just before the Saturn Neptune conjunction on 20th February, and then stays in Aries until 13th April 2028 when he goes into Taurus for good.
While Saturn is in Aries you have the opportunity to define your identity in a more realistic way and clarify how you take action towards your goals and ambitions. This is the perfect time to create a new beginning in the Aries part of your chart by initiating projects that express who you are as an individual. You can channel your creative energy into building a strong sense of personal authority and find the courage to become who you’re meant to be.
But before you can work towards meaningful goals you need to know who you are. So this transit may bring up obstacles in the form of fears, doubts and limitations that appear to hold you back. Confronting these issues will enable you to discover who you are and what you really want out of life.
Some of these limitations may appear in the form of obstacles on your path and you may feel that people or circumstances are stopping you from getting what you want. But you might not really know what you want because you don’t really know who you are. The obstacles and blockages will force you to slow down and think about what you’re doing, and why, so you can find the right path forward.
External obstacles may also reflect an inner fear or issue that you need to face, such as doubts about taking action or avoiding confrontation, competition or leadership. You might not feel comfortable asserting yourself or asking for what you want, perhaps because you don’t want to upset others or don’t want to appear selfish. Or you could be scared of making the wrong decision or doing the wrong thing and may avoid taking risks due to fear of failure.
But you could also try to overcompensate for unconscious fears and lack of courage by going too far to prove how strong and heroic you are. You could take unnecessary risks and act in an overly aggressive way, bulldozing over others and not taking their feelings into consideration. You may also hide behind defensive posturing and passive aggression by manipulating others to get what you want rather than directly asking for it.
In Saturn: A New Look at an Old Devil, Liz Greene says that Saturn in the sign of its fall can be stripped of courage and confidence. But these are the qualities you need in order to tackle life head-on like a true Aries:
“…the thing he wants the most is the joy of being free, of being first, of exploring unknown regions and meeting unknown challenges and revelling in the innate realisation that his existence is guarantee enough of his purpose.”
With Saturn in Aries you can achieve this kind of freedom if you make the effort. But your ability to act and boldly go forth to seize your goals will be tested to be sure you’re doing the right thing.

Obviously how you respond to this transit depends on how you normally express your aggressive energies and natal Mars placement. It also depends on what other planets you have in Aries in your chart and the transits Saturn makes from Aries to your other natal placements.
This transit may make you more cautious and less impulsive in the Aries part of your life and this will allow you to think things through before taking action. But you could also get stuck worrying about what you want to do without ever doing anything about it. You could become too hesitant and hold yourself back, but if this goes on too long it could lead to illness, such as headaches and inflammatory issues, or problems with anger.
If you get stuck or find yourself going in circles fuelled by doubt it may be a sign that you’re avoiding taking responsibility for something. You may be limiting yourself too much because you believe you’re not capable of doing something without even giving it a try. You may need to become more conscious of your fears or learn how to deal with obstacles without being put off by the possibility of failure.
Obstacles on your path may hold you back and make you doubt yourself but these are tests to see if your desires and goals are right for you. This doesn’t mean you should give up if you encounter difficulties but you might need to rethink what you’re doing or consider the deeper meaning of the experience. You may feel frustrated and impatient when things don’t work out but the point of the transit is to learn discipline and patience.
Obstacles and doubts provide an opportunity to figure out who you want to be and what you really want out of life. By confronting your limitations and taking responsibility for your choices you can learn to accept yourself as you are. Then you can work towards goals that are meaningful to you because they reflect your true nature. You may even find ways to overcome limitations that prove to be illusory.
Part of this process may involve defining yourself more clearly as an individual and not just going along with everyone else. This could trigger difficulties with people in authority, your boss, parents, or anyone you feel is restricting your actions in some way. You could also get into trouble if you try to avoid taking responsibility for yourself or making your own decisions and you could be forced by circumstances to grow up and sort yourself out.
You may need to learn to stand up for yourself but will also need to only fight for things that really matter to you. Confrontations with others will help you to recognise what’s worth fighting for and what isn’t, as well as what’s worth putting your energy and time into and when to act and when not to act. Sometimes it takes courage to wait and not take action or to withdraw in the face of opposition. But you may also need to learn to ask for help and to recognise that you don’t have to do everything yourself.

This transit provides an opportunity to learn about how you use your will and energy to achieve your goals. For the will to work effectively it must be directed and controlled and not be subject to misdirection from your lower drives and instincts. Unconscious impulses can siphon your energy off into unproductive activity leaving you drained or simply spinning your wheels and going nowhere fast.
If you work with Saturn over the next couple of years you can train yourself to be more disciplined and gain self-mastery over your impulses and desires. This will enable you to make better choices and take action in a self-disciplined and focused way that moves you closer to your genuine goals. Doing this will also help you to grow in strength and self-confidence and give you the courage to be true to yourself.
This makes it a good time to rethink your goals and motivations to ensure that they’re aligned with your true intentions and needs. Saturn forces you to slow down and make a realistic plan so you can get organised and work towards what you want. He limits your energy which forces you to focus only on the things that matter and wait for the right time to act.
If you know what you want and are clear about how to work towards it you can achieve great things during this transit. You can discover more about who you are and what you’re capable of as an individual and work towards developing your full potential. You can develop a stronger will and sense of purpose and empower yourself to act in your own best interest.
You can become more realistic about what you’re capable of achieving and it may be more than you previously thought. Saturn can give you the discipline and patience to grow into the person you have always wanted to be and establish a sense of self that’s based on hard work and real results. You can build a strong foundation in the Aries part of your chart that will last a long time.
“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man [or woman!] should be. Be one.” – Marcus Aurelius

All the above sounds great but this transit arrives in the middle of an almighty revolution in how the world is organised. The process of de-globalisation is accelerating as we shift into a decentralised multipolar world over the next decade driven by the air cycle of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions. The mini triangle between the outer planets also announces the end of the old colonialist order and makes things incredibly volatile.
Saturn in Aries may bring a return to nationalism and the recognition of national boundaries, already underway in some countries. We’re also already seeing trade wars which could have unpredictable effects on the world economy due to the sovereign debt crisis in Western nations. This crisis was inevitable (even without the tariffs) and the debt bubble is now so large that it swamps everything else and is driving increased inequality and lowering living standards.
Many are fed up with this system and its inherent unfairness and this may drive people into revolts and uprisings that fight for the rights of individuals, as well as vigilante groups that seek to restore order to a system that no longer works for them. Unfortunately, the dying empire will also try to channel this aggressive energy into another war to provide cover for their debt default, as we explored in the Neptune in Aries post.
How this plays out for you on a personal level will depend on where in the world you are and where the Saturn Neptune conjunction falls in your chart. As Saturn enters Aries while conjunct Neptune the first half of this transit will be coloured by that aspect which may involve a lot of confusion and the dissolving of old structures. Saturn and Neptune remain close into 2026 and Saturn only pulls ahead on his own early in 2027 when things may become clearer – or the gloves finally come off.
In the meantime, you may need to face the consequences of the way you have acted in the past and take responsibility for who you have become. You may need to deal with the consequences of your choices and desires and how you define yourself as an individual. This may involve some soul searching as you learn to listen to your deeper Self and trust your intuition to guide you.
You may feel confused about what you want and who you want to be but take your time exploring possibilities and take calculated risks to see what works and what doesn’t. You may surprise yourself by discovering new goals and ambitions that take you in a new direction. Watch the Saturn Neptune conjunction in the summer of 2025 and February 2026 for clues to where you might be heading.
You may also want to look at what was happening in your life the last time Saturn was in Aries from April 1996 to February 1999. For me this transit coincided with when I graduated from college and became a sound engineer which was a goal and dream I’d been working towards for years. Aries is in my 2nd house so it also coincided with me starting part-time work and learning new skills that enabled me to increase my earnings after the transit was over.
You can make the most of this transit by preparing in advance using the Saturn Transits Workbook available here! This is a comprehensive guide to working with Saturn transits that includes worksheets to track and explore your experience. More details here or click the image to visit the store!

thanks! This is a great overview of the transit.
For me, Aries is in my 10th house and the last time of this transit I was finishing high school, getting my career ambitions clear and ended with the start of going to architecture school. This time, I’m definitely in a period of some confusion after a difficult period over the past years reconciling what my spiritual and philosophical beliefs about the universe and ‘reality’ are and how that intersects with my practical life as Saturn transited Pisces. I want my career to fully align with my spiritual philosophies but I’m really unsure how to do that as it is unknown territory and thus far the ideas I’ve explored have had limited success. But I suppose it’ll all become clear as I experiment over the next few years 😏
