August begins in Leo season when we celebrate ourselves and shine our light for all to see, whether they like it or not! This is a time of high drama and joy that invites everyone to join the party and have fun so you can tap into your inner King or Queen and explore your creativity and personal sovereignty. More on the meaning of Leo here: Leo Myths

The month begins with the Sun conjunct Jupiter in Leo, Mercury in Cancer, Venus in Virgo, and Mars in Gemini. Saturn, Neptune and Pluto are retrograde and Chiron joins them early in the month. Venus enters Libra in the first week, shortly followed by Mercury entering Leo and Mars entering his fall in Cancer. Near the end of the month the Sun enters Virgo, shortly followed by Mercury.
Eclipse season fades in from the start of the month and on 12th August the New Moon in Leo is a total solar eclipse conjunct the south node and trine Saturn. This lunation highlights your need for creativity and self-expression, and with four planets in Leo should give everyone an ego boost. You may feel joyful and openhearted with a desire to have fun and play. Hopefully the south node will discourage too much arrogance and self-indulgence and encourage the noble side of Leo to manifest.
Venus is also opposite Neptune in a kite formation with the mini triangle of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, and in a T-square with Mars. This boosts your imagination and desire for love and fairness in relationships but could also bring disillusionment and money troubles if you’re not paying attention.
Mars has now entered Cancer so you may want to put more energy into fulfilling your emotions and taking care of your family and loved ones. But you may also be prone to moodiness and passive aggressive behaviour, especially if you bottle up your feelings or let problems fester. Mars is square Neptune which could undermine your energy levels but can also inspire creative action in pursuit of your dreams.

The Mars Neptune square remains in orb for most of the month so you may want to be extra careful that you’re working towards the right goals and not misleading yourself chasing rainbows or unrealistic ideals. By the end of the month Saturn begins to square Mars and provides a reality check so any unrealistic goals could fail by early September. But you can also make your dreams and goals real if you’re on the right track.
This reality check also applies to Venus who opposes Saturn later in the month as the Neptune opposition fades. This would be a good time to consolidate your relationships and finances and give form to your creativity.
Meanwhile, Pluto goes out of bounds on 12th August until 10th December marking a revolutionary period of time when the old order can be reformed. If you’re sensitive to Pluto’s energy you may notice things becoming more extreme or exaggerated – although it’s hard to tell the difference these days! If Pluto is transiting your chart while OOB you may be able to tap into this extra energy to transform yourself or parts of your life in profound ways. More on Pluto Out of Bounds here.
On 15th August the Mercury Jupiter conjunction becomes exact while opposite Pluto triggering the mini triangle and basket/cradle configuration that caused all the excitement in July. This gives your creativity a boost and you could be inspired with big ideas and dreams that you can’t wait to share with everyone. But you may also struggle with obsessive thinking or power struggles if you overdo the self-confidence and become arrogant or bossy.
On 27th August the superior conjunction of the Sun and Mercury becomes exact in Virgo just before the lunation. This is the moment when any seeds planted and projects started when Mercury stationed direct in July may bear fruit, if they haven’t already. It marks the start of the next Mercury retrograde cycle and is a good time for practical goals and getting stuff done.

On 28th August the Full Moon in Pisces is a partial lunar eclipse with the Sun conjunct Mercury and the south node opposite the Pisces Moon conjunct the north node in Aquarius in a T-square with Uranus. The Moon also trines Mars, while the Sun and Mercury trine Chiron, and Mercury sextiles Mars.
This lunation highlights your need for order and practical routines and you may want to get organised and sort yourself out. But Uranus could disrupt your plans with surprises and sudden detours, while the Moon increases your desire to dream and drift and escape from the chaos. If you can avoid being swamped by confusing feelings, you may be inspired to find practical solutions supported by the Jupiter Saturn alignment.
The Jupiter Saturn trine becomes exact on 31st August but remains in orb all month providing support for everything you do. This transit helps you to ground your visions and dreams and make them real. The harmonious flow of energy between your need for growth and need for limits and responsibility make this an excellent time to work hard to achieve your ambitions and make positive changes to your life so you can continue to grow in the most productive way.
