Pluto Transits: 6th House

When Pluto transits the 6th house your need for transformation and power influences your daily routines, health habits and job. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits the 6th house it brings intensity and evolution to your work and relationship to colleagues, your diet and health habits, illness and potential for healing, as well as pets and service. You may want to work in a Plutonian job, such as research and detective work, psychology, medicine, mining and working underground, refurbishing and renovating things, or secretive work.

There may be challenges at work that encourage you to change your approach and you may want to get a better job that’s more suitable, with improved pay or hours, for example, or doing something more meaningful to you. It may take a while to find the right job or settle into a new routine but you can develop a more fulfilling work life by the end of the transit.

You may need to confront old fears, emotional complexes, and obsessive or compulsive behaviour at work. There may be power struggles with colleagues or childhood patterns that are relived through office politics. Extreme feelings may return to your awareness so you can heal them and let them go. You can learn more about yourself by exploring these issues and you may discover new talents and gifts that you could develop.

You can also transform your health and habits as you become aware of what works and what doesn’t. You may try to push yourself too hard and overwork or not get enough sleep and this could cause health problems. Your health could breakdown if you haven’t been taking care of yourself but this allows you to let go of unhealthy patterns of behaviour and improve your wellbeing.

This transit is the perfect time to strengthen your body and become more resilient by improving your diet and exercise routines, but you may need to be careful not to become obsessed in your quest for health. Be especially careful with fads and extreme diets or trying to force yourself to heal. Learn to listen to your body and honour its needs.

The point of the 6th house is to bring your inner and outer life into balance so the soul can express itself through the body in daily life. Examining your habits, health and work can reveal how you see yourself and what you might need to change in order for your life to be a better reflection of the real you.

Possibilities with Pluto transiting the 6th house:
  • Getting a more fulfilling job
  • Increased power at work
  • Discovering new talents and skills
  • Strengthening your body and health
  • Improving your diet and exercise
  • Transformative experiences with animals and pets
Watch out for:
  • Breakdown in health or illness
  • Obsessive focus on extreme diets
  • Power struggles at work
  • Working too hard with no rest
  • Loss of your job
  • Death of a beloved pet

  1. I’m a Plutonian with Pluto (12th house) within 4 degrees of my Leo Asc and square my ruling planet (Venus) in Scorpio. I’m 81 years old and have been trying to heal my messed up stomach with alternative healing modalities and diet for about 3 months now. I did pretty well but ended up sicker than a dog and in deep fear that I had cancer! (Transit Pluto is also sitting trine my Mercury and Neptune and unreasoning worry seems to be the main effect of that transit). So I went to a doc who said no fear of cancer of but see a surgeon for a hernia and get back on my pharmaceutical because I will always have too much acid in my stomach! Dammit, I hate pharmaceuticals—this one gives me muscle cramps and may thin my bones!!! But after resisting, a quiet voice inside told me to do as he says. So transiting Pluto in the 6th house has given me a lot of confusion, a massive change in my health philosophy and 2 voices to listen to instead of one cantankerous one. Thanks a lot Pluto!!! Actually, I LOVE being a Plutonian and am perfectly happy to engage with its influence in my 6th house.
