Exploring the Jupiter Uranus Conjunction in your chart

Last time we explored the wider possibilities for the Jupiter Uranus conjunction marking the start of a new cycle between these planets. The conjunction happens on 21st April 2024 at 21°49’ Taurus with an 8-degree orb from 2nd March to 5th June. In this post, we’ll explore how this might work on a personal level and what you can do to make the most of it.

The Jupiter Uranus conjunction represents an exciting new beginning in the Taurus area of your chart which may bring sudden opportunities, surprises, reversals and disruption, especially if the conjunction aspects one or more of your personal planets.

Using a 3-degree orb, it will directly conjunct any planet in Taurus at 18–24 degrees, and will oppose or square planets at those degrees in Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius. It will sextile or trine planets at those degrees in Cancer, Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces. You can use a wider orb if you wish.

To get a feel for what might be coming your way, check what you were doing between 22th July to 17th October 2023 when Jupiter and Uranus were almost conjunct in a wide orb. Something may have happened or you may have had intuitions or a sudden impulse to change something that could be significant in the months ahead.

As we’ve seen, Jupiter Uranus alignments combine the optimism and growth of Jupiter with the idealism and innovation of Uranus. At best, Jupiter encourages Uranus to be more beneficial and less extreme, bringing uplifting and positive results. But you may still need to watch out for a tendency to overdo things or expand too far, especially if you’re usually prone to excessive idealism.

If Jupiter and Uranus directly trigger your chart you may feel energised and restless with a strong desire for freedom. You may want to try new things and explore ideas or activities that broaden your horizons and expand your outlook on life. You may be inspired by a renewal of faith or feelings of hope and could experience a breakthrough in almost any area where you’ve been stuck but especially in the house where the conjunction falls or in relation to any planets that it aspects.

This could be a moment of rebirth where the seeds of new life are planted that will grow into the future. Or a sudden opportunity turns up that radically alters the direction of your life, such as a new career path or relationship, a surprise improvement in health, or a spiritual awakening that turns your life upside-down in a good way.

You may experience a surprise improvement in your finances or opportunities to make money or invest in the future. However, it could also be unpredictable and there may be unexpected expenses, depending on other transits and your current situation. You may be inspired to downsize and simplify your finances. Look out for bargains and discounts but don’t expect money to magically appear and don’t take what you have for granted.

Stay open to possibilities and expect the unexpected. Be willing to experiment and try things out, especially if your dreams or intuition have been nagging at you to make changes for a while – particularly since Jupiter entered Taurus in May last year.

This transit represents a great opportunity to radically change your life for the better. You can use it to break out of old habits and ruts and let go of past behaviour that’s holding you back. You have more courage to be yourself and may be inspired to take a risk and do something that you never thought you could. But you also need to be careful of the shadow side of this energy.

When Jupiter and Uranus get together it can be very exciting and inspiring and you might not stop to think things through. You may feel so restless and determined to break free that it leads to rash behaviour or extreme risk-taking that gets you in trouble. You may be too optimistic about the opportunities that you’re chasing or they may be too good to be true. Or you go overboard with self-confidence and become puffed up with self-righteous certainty.

Even if you manage to avoid these dangers, some of the risks you take during this transit may not work out in the long run. However, that’s no reason not to try because you never know. The risks that work out will be the ones that are based in reality – i.e. they’re grounded in something more than just fantasy. You may even discover that reality is much more than you believed was possible.

Whatever you’re planning to do, it won’t hurt to take a step back and think it through first. But don’t limit yourself too much – just be reasonable and practical.

You should also be careful not to expect your life to instantly change and for all your problems to be solved. For one, every transit happens within the context of all the other transits working through your chart at any given time. What happens will depend on everything else that’s going on. So don’t expect something good to happen out of the blue – although it might!

You may need to actively seek change and bounce yourself out of the rut you’ve fallen into, especially if you don’t realise that you’re in a rut. This may involve taking a leap of faith but you will have to act to make it real.

You may also need to wait for improvements to work themselves through into your life. This transit could be a turning point where a seed is planted that will grow into the future. Remember, this is Taurus – improvements will take time and probably a bit of effort before you see the results.

You can make the most of this transit by tuning into the positive potentials of this liberating energy and being proactive. It can be used for improving your life in a variety of ways but also for doing inner work and engaging in the individuation process. Take some time to meditate and journal about how you would like to transform yourself and your life by answering these questions:

  • What does your soul require of you at this time?
  • Where do you need to grow?
  • What do you need to let go of in order to move forward in your life?
  • Any other questions that are relevant to your situation…

By making a conscious effort to stay grounded and be practical you should be able to avoid getting carried away by too much optimism or misplaced enthusiasm. If you’re feeling restless or have a sense of urgency about doing something, try to remember to slow down, count to ten and breathe. Check in with yourself and focus the extra energy on doing something constructive.

My notes:

To get a feel for how these conjunctions work in the natal chart, here are my notes on the two previous Jupiter Uranus conjunctions from 1997 and 2010–11.

The conjunction in February 1997 happened at 5° Aquarius and was in orb from late December 1996 to late April 1997 and then again from mid-August to mid-November 1997. It was in my 12th house and conjunct my ascendant so it influenced my subconscious, karmic patterns and dreams, and my appearance and approach to life, as well as relationships.

This conjunction happened at the end of a long period of deep inner transformation following a breakdown in the early 90s while I was at college studying music. That was triggered by various transits including the progressed Sun moving to conjunct my 8th house Pluto and Saturn entering the 12th house, followed by both Uranus and Neptune.

By 1996 I was busy rebuilding my life, having returned to college to study Music Production to make my dream of being a sound engineer come true. I graduated that summer and began helping out at a local studio, making the tea and hustling for work. My first paid sessions as an engineer began in December 96 and continued through the whole transit into 1998 – dream fulfilled! 🥳

Just prior to this conjunction, in September 96, I met the man who would become my long-term boyfriend when his band hired the studio to record their demo. I was on hand, setting up microphones and generally making myself useful and we clicked.

The dingy but great studio where I learned to ply my trade

The conjunctions in 2010–11 happened at 0° Aries in June 2010 and at 28° Pisces in September 2010 and 27° Pisces in January 2011. The conjunction remained in orb through the entire period so it was quite intense, with the wider orb extending out from April 2010 to March 2011. It was in my 2nd house and opposite my Mercury Pluto conjunction in the 8th house (at 28° and 26° Virgo respectively) so it influenced my finances, work and feelings of self-worth, as well as my thinking and need for deep transformation.

This conjunction coincided with a period when I was working full-time as a sound engineer recording a talking newspaper for a local council at the same time as doing a lot of writing, including screenplays and a novel. I was feeling frustrated and bored at work and writing was my new hope for a better life.

The first conjunction coincided with me starting my first blog, Free Your Pen, and working on the first draft of my first novel (Addled) which I finished in August 2010. I also attended a screenwriting conference which convinced me that becoming a scriptwriter wasn’t for me and I doubled down on novel writing instead.

Meanwhile at work, things were unravelling and we were informed that the service was to be closed due to government cuts. It was an incredibly stressful situation that also coincided with death threats from one of my neighbours and the collapse of my health. There were other transits at the time which intensified things, such as the Pluto Uranus square which was hitting my Uranus Chiron opposition, and Saturn transiting my 8th house.

I disbanded the writing group that I’d been running for a few years because nobody could be bothered to turn up or do any writing, and that freed me from a situation that had become a burden. I was made redundant in March 2011 as the conjunction came to an end. This was a horrible process but I received redundancy pay which freed me from drudgery for a while and gave me more time to write and deal with my health.

The conjunction in April 2024 will be conjunct my natal Saturn in the 3rd house – I may report back later…

  1. the previous conjunction fell on my 9H and trined both my asc and Jupiter Uranus conjunction.. it brought a few abundant years through hard work though and managed to travel, further my studies and focus on learning more because I had money to free up time for linger periods of time… That was good times, the upcoming conjunction is falling on my 10H on my mercury which is rhe apex of my yod and opposite my moon. Uranus has made my life very difficult the last few years so I would welcome a reversal of fate, a change of status, as I am struggling to make ends meet especially after the Pluto Saturn conjunction.. it worries me though that it will trigger my yod..

    1. This Jupiter/Uranus conjunction is happening almost exactly on my DC and opposing my AC and also perfectly square my natal moon. I suspect this one to be a doozy.

  2. My Taurus Moon is in the 12th at 23º – these words were helpful. The changes aren’t just going to MAGIC themselves… I half want to stay in my 12th house cave and “do the work” and half want to be here there and everywhere… I can’t decide, it’s exhausting!
