When Pluto transits the natal Moon your need for transformation and power influences your feelings, habits and emotional patterns. Pluto destroys and regenerates old structures and represents your need to be empowered and reborn in this area.

When Pluto transits the natal Moon, it brings intensity and evolution to your home and family and how you nurture yourself, as well as feelings of security and safety and how you respond instinctively to others. There may also be changes in your relationships to women in general, as well as with your mother or mothering figures in your life.
This transit encourages you to become aware of your emotional habits and past conditioning so you can free yourself from patterns of behaviour that are holding you back and create more supportive habits instead. This allows you to grow in emotional maturity and develop greater inner strength and resilience that helps you to feel at home wherever you are.
Hard aspects to the Moon (conjunction, square or opposition) may be more challenging and you may need to confront emotional complexes, hidden fears and compulsive feelings that are triggered by current events that mirror past experiences. This happens so you can heal old wounds and immature reactions and become more whole.
You may feel more emotional than usual and this could affect your relationships, especially with women. There may be power struggles, emotional manipulation and guilt trips, possessiveness or controlling behaviour, as well as mood swings and lots of crying. You may need to learn to honour your feelings, no matter how dark or painful they are, without unleashing them on others.
Pluto allows you to go deeper than usual and you can develop profound understanding of your emotional needs, gain insight into how you nurture yourself and others, and find better ways of taking care of yourself that are more empowering by developing greater self-acceptance of your feelings.
Some of these feelings may relate to your mother and she may be going through Plutonian experiences during this time. Your relationship with your mother could be transformed in some way, and if you’re a woman you could become a mother for the first time. Or your relationship to your children may change forcing you to view motherhood in a new way.
This transit can also indicate health problems such as issues with your hormones, breasts, womb, menstruation, and menopause, for example. There could be complications with pregnancy or childbirth, depending on your chart and other transits. Or your relationship to your own body may change due to health issues or the ageing process and other natural changes.
Finally, you may want to move home or redecorate to increase your feelings of security and comfort during this time. There may also be repairs that need doing and some of the changes you make could reflect the inner emotional changes that you’re going through.

- Moving home or redecorating or repairing your home

My Notes:
Pluto transited square my natal Moon in 1987-89, from age 17 to 19, when Pluto was in Scorpio in my 9th house. This coincided with when I left school and then left home to attend college – a period of growing up and exploring what kind of adult I wanted to become. The transit started as I completed my A Levels and then worked for a year at the Virgin Megastore in Brighton. By the end of the transit I had moved to Newcastle to study music and I don’t remember it being a particularly emotional time. I was happy to have left home.
Pluto transited trine my natal Moon in 2000-1, from age 29 to 31, when Pluto was in Sagittarius in my 10th house. This coincided with another move. I had moved in with my boyfriend the year before but it was a bit cramped. Shortly after this transit started we moved to a larger flat that was unfurnished, despite not having any furniture.
We spent months doing the place up, putting the carpet in and buying what we needed. It felt like a positive move, like something was opening up, although my work at the time was stressful and making me ill. By the end of the transit I found a better job as a sound engineer recording a talking newspaper and was much happier.
Pluto will transit opposite my natal Moon in 2030-32, from age 59 to 62, when Pluto is in Aquarius in my 1st house. This is an approaching transit…

Pluto conj my natal 2nd House moon in Feb. 2024. I was soon in dispute with my landlord and the property was giving me a lot of trouble. By July I had shifted a good 1,000 Km, back to my home state, and a far better property (and life). I’m 78 so no real-time mother issues, but by September 2024 my sister was deeply embroiled with a very nasty gynecological cancer. This brought us much closer together and the cancer has gone into remission. Transit should see this year out.
