When Saturn transits the natal Sun the need for security and achievement influences your sense of self and how you express yourself. Saturn represents the structures and limitations of your life, and what you need to do in order to be true to yourself and build the life you want.

When Saturn transits the Sun, you need to evaluate your identity and how you’re doing to see whether you’re living up to your highest potentials. If you’re not, you may be forced to grow up and take responsibility for yourself. This is an opportunity to test yourself against reality and make progress towards becoming who you really are, so it’s best to take a constructive approach.
Saturn restricts your energy levels and this forces you to focus on what’s most productive in your life and to get rid of anything that holds you back. It can be a stressful time when you feel frustrated or restricted in what you can do, but this is just to help you discover what works and what doesn’t. You may start to feel dissatisfied with how things are, especially if your life doesn’t reflect the real you deep down.
If there’s a difference between who you appear to be and who you are inside, Saturn will force a confrontation with your shadow, and the bigger the difference, the harder it will be. This doesn’t have to be a negative experience, but if you resist the changes you need to make, things are likely to get even harder and more frustrating.
The sextile and trine transits are the easiest to deal with and you should feel more confident and willing to do whatever is necessary to change. The conjunction, square, and opposition are more challenging but offer the opportunity to let go of the past and refocus your life in a more productive direction. These transits are only really difficult if you haven’t been true to yourself.
You may experience a turning point in your career where you finally succeed after years of effort. Or it can be a period of disappointment and failure when what you’ve been doing is proved to be unrealistic. Saturn will force you to accept what is possible and real for your particular situation. But you can still achieve a lot at these times so don’t give up too easily, even if you’re struggling.
Possibilities with Saturn transiting the Sun:
- Promotion or recognition for your work
- Marriage
- Starting a new business
- Working on creative projects
- Giving ideas structure and form
- Building confidence and self-mastery
- Greater productivity
Watch out for:
- Stress and burnout
- Depression
- Resentment and resistance against change
- Low energy
- Self-doubt and loss of faith in yourself
- Shadow projections
- Difficulties with a father or authority figure
These transits can be humbling but you’ll be stronger once it’s over. Take the opportunity to discover where you’ve gone wrong in expressing yourself in the past and stay open to the possibility of change. Now is the time to be fully authentic and express the reality of who you are and grow towards developing your own inner authority and sovereignty.
