July Astrology 2026

July begins in Cancer season at the height of summer in the northern hemisphere when life is busy growing and needs to be nurtured and cared for. This is when we can plunge into the depths of the Great Mother to find the source of creative life that will burst forth in Leo by the end of the month. More on the meaning of Cancer here: Cancer Myths

July is a very busy month, astrologically speaking – it’s when everything happens! The month begins with the Sun in Cancer plus Mercury retrograde in Cancer conjunct Jupiter in Leo. Venus is also in Leo, while Mars is conjunct Uranus in Gemini. Pluto is retrograde and is joined by Neptune early in the month and by Saturn at the end of the month. Venus enters Virgo after the first week and the Sun enters Leo in the third week.

The Mars Uranus conjunction becomes exact on 4th July, having faded in from 22nd June and fades out by mid-month. This may bring surprises and unexpected detours and could be explosive, especially if you try to avoid making needed changes. But it also offers great potential for making radical changes that overturn your life in a positive way.

The aspect is supported by sextiles from Jupiter and Neptune and a trine from Pluto, and it also squares the nodes, adding a karmic dimension to events and the choices you make during this time. Make the most of this moment which could trigger insights or a breakthrough that frees you from the past, as well as shocking news or a sudden reversal that forces you to rethink your goals and actions.

The mini triangle alignment between Uranus, Neptune and Pluto gets heavily triggered this month as it locks into place at 4° Gemini, Aries and Aquarius from 7th to 31st July. Jupiter also plugs into the triangle from Leo, forming the infamous Barbault’s basket or cradle:

Jupiter opposite Pluto and the mini triangle in July 2026

The aspects that make up the mini triangle all become exact this month: Uranus Neptune sextile on 15th July, Uranus Pluto trine on 18th July, and Neptune Pluto sextile on 25th July. These transits are all reinforced and boosted by Jupiter who reaches 4° Leo on 18th July while still conjunct the Sun in Cancer.

Jupiter’s aspects to the mini triangle remain in orb all month and all become exact around the same time, making the middle of the month a profoundly significant time. The Jupiter Neptune trine and the Jupiter Pluto opposition both go exact on 20th of July, while the Jupiter Uranus sextile goes exact on 21st July. Jupiter is also square Chiron in a T-square with Pluto, adding some tension with the possibility of healing and transformation.

If any part of this configuration connects with your chart it provides an opportunity to make radical changes to your life, including freeing yourself from the past, developing new talents or starting a new enterprise, integrating your shadow and becoming more authentically yourself, and more! However, the energies could also be unpredictable so you may need to think fast and stay centred to make the most of it.

Events in society could be moving very fast and may be disorienting and challenging, depending on where you live. This moment may come to be seen as a watershed time when we look back and can get a clearer perspective on events. We’re in the middle of an enormous reconfiguration of power structures around the world that has many years left to run. You can read more on that process in the mini triangle series here.

Meanwhile, the other planets are continuing to do their thing. On 13th July the Mercury retrograde cycle reaches its halfway point when Mercury retrograde conjuncts the Sun in Cancer while square Saturn. This is the moment to gather inspiration and make intentions for the plans or changes you need to make in the Cancer area of your chart once Mercury goes direct at the end of the month. The square from Saturn helps to structure your thinking and offers practical solutions and a reality check against anything that doesn’t add up.

New Moon in Cancer

On 14th July the New Moon in Cancer is conjunct Mercury retrograde and square Saturn. This lunation highlights the importance of home and family and you may feel protective and sensitive to moods, with a strong need for nurturing and belonging. Saturn could trigger some negative thinking but you can use the productive energy to make cautious plans for a new beginning as the momentous events of mid-month arrive.

On 23rd July Mercury stations direct in Cancer while sextile Venus and square Saturn. This is the moment to act on the plans you’ve been making as a result of the Mercury retrograde cycle. Venus in Virgo offers practical support while Saturn provides structure and discipline. The Sagittarian Moon is opposite Uranus that day so events or feelings of restlessness could be extra disruptive if you’re not paying attention.

On 27th July the north node enters Aquarius while square Uranus, triggering the mini triangle, while the Sun is opposite Pluto and conjunct Jupiter. As the nodal axis shifts from Pisces/Virgo to Aquarius/Leo, you may notice an increase in the need for community and friendship and new ways to connect with others in society. You may also notice a decreased focus on the need for drama and egocentric activities. More on this transit coming soon.

Full Moon in Aquarius

On 29th July the Full Moon in Aquarius sees the Sun in Leo conjunct Jupiter opposite the Moon in Aquarius conjunct Pluto and in a T-square with Chiron. The Sun is also sextile Uranus and trine Neptune, while the Moon is trine Uranus and sextile Neptune. This lunation highlights your need for self-expression and creativity and may cause conflicts in your friendships, reinforcing the new nodal positions.

The Sun Jupiter conjunction becomes exact just before the lunation, having faded in from 18th July and lasting until 9th August. This is a great transit that provides optimism and hope for the future, although the opposition from Pluto could intensify feelings and push some into arrogant behaviour that alienates others or triggers power struggles.

You can use the supportive aspects from the rest of the mini triangle to make positive and far-reaching changes to your life. As long as you can keep your ego under control, you can release the past and embrace a bright new future as the month comes to an end. The Jupiter Saturn trine also begins to fade in from 31st July, providing more support for practical growth and productive changes that last.
